Gouache, body color, or opaque watercolor, is one type of watermedia, paint consisting of natural pigment, water, a binding agent, and sometimes additional inert material. Gouache is designed to be opaque. Gouache has a considerable history, going back at least 1200 years. It is used most consistently by commercial artists for posters, illustrations, comics, and other design work.

Her father is Manuel Neri, a prolific sculptor associated with the Bay Area Figurative Movement, and her mother, Susan Neri, is a graphic designer. Neri is both a painter and a sculptor, and has worked with a wide array of materials including clay, plaster, bronze, steel, fiberglass, glaze, acrylic, oil, and spray paint.[8] Lately, Neri has focused her practice and is primarily making clay sculpture.[7] Her work is based in abstraction and figuration, drawing inspiration from Bay Area Figuration, German Expressionism, graffiti, and folk art. Neri uses horses as a common motif in her work, which serves as a personal symbol of her youth.

Alice Dalton Brown is an American realist painter who grew up in Ithaca, New York. Dalton Brown began her studies in France at the Académie Julian in Paris and at the L'Université de Grenoble. She entered Cornell University as an English major and later transferred to Oberlin College, where she received her BA in studio art in 1962. While at Oberlin, she studied art history with Wolfgang Stechow. From 1970 to 2005, she lived and worked in New York City. Dalton Brown currently lives in the Hudson Valley and in King Ferry, New York.

Hodé Frankl was a 20th-century American painter. Born in Brooklyn, NY to Eva and Sam Frankel, Frankl began painting as a child. Her earliest awards for her artwork include the Daniel Schnakenberg Scholarship from the Art Students League of New York (1942), and First Prize for works in watercolor by the National Arts Club, for her painting Land (1945). Primarily a watercolor painter, she also worked in pen and ink, woodcuts, and decorative arts. Throughout her career she produced hundreds of paintings, and exhibited her work primarily in shows in New York City and Philadelphia. Many of her paintings were sold to private collectors.
