Brian Coffey was an Irish poet and publisher. His work was informed by his Catholicism, his background in science and philosophy, and his connection to French surrealism. He was close to an intellectual European Catholic tradition and mainstream Irish Catholic culture. Two of his long poems, Advent (1975) and Death of Hektor (1979), were widely considered to be important works in the canon of Irish poetic modernism. He also ran Advent Books, a small press, during the 1960s and 1970s.

Joseph S. Freedman is Professor of History at Alabama State University in Montgomery, Alabama. He has been an Assistant (2000-2005), Associate (2005-2008), and Full Professor (2008-2012) of Education there. His primary area of research is academic philosophy (Schulphilosophie) during the Early Modern Period with an emphasis on Central Europe. He publishes extensively on the history of philosophy and history of education. Freedman received his BA in History 1969, his MA in History in 1972, and his PhD in History in 1982, all from the University of Wisconsin–Madison. His PhD dissertation focused on philosophy and philosophical issues in historical perspective, together with the history of education.

John Francis Wippel is an American Catholic priest of the Diocese of Steubenville. He is a leading authority on the metaphysical thought of Thomas Aquinas. He has won the Cardinal Mercier Prize for International Philosophy in 1981, two National Endowment for the Humanities Fellowships, and has been named a Professor of the Pontifical Academy of Saint Thomas Aquinas. He is currently the Theodore Basselin Professor of Philosophy at the Catholic University of America in Washington, DC.
Robert John Henle was an American Catholic priest, Jesuit, and philosopher who was the president of Georgetown University from 1969 to 1976. Born in Iowa, Henle entered the Society of Jesus in 1927. He taught high school classics and published a series of instructional books on Latin, one of which became widely used. He then became at professor at Saint Louis University and was known as one of the leaders of the revival of Thomistic philosophy and theology. He also served as a dean and vice president for nearly 20 years. In this latter capacity, he oversaw Saint Louis University's growing independence from, but continuing affiliation with, the Jesuit order.
