Richard Goulding

Richard Goulding (born 1980/1981) [1] is a British actor, best known for playing Prince Harry in the 2014 stage play King Charles III , and its 2017 BBC TV adaptation, as well as in 2016 television series The Windsors . [2]

Education

Goulding was educated at Shrewsbury School, Oxford University, and the Guildhall School of Music and Drama.

Career

Goulding is a visiting director at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama, and at which he appeared as Ivor Gurney in A Soldier and a Maker in 2012. [3] His other stage work includes The Seagull (2007–2008) and A Mad World My Masters (2013 [4] ) for the Royal Shakespeare Company, The Way of the World at the Sheffield Crucible (2012 [5] ), both runs of Posh (2010 and 2012), the 2012 King Lear at the Almeida Theatre and the 2013 Titus Andronicus and A Mad World My Masters with the Royal Shakespeare Company. Film and television work has included The Iron Lady , Foyle's War and Fresh Meat .

In 2019, he appeared as Boris Johnson in Toby Haynes's Channel 4 production, Brexit: The Uncivil War , and as Daniel Radcliffe in the satirical comedy, Island of Dreams. [6] In 2021 he played David Boutflour in the Netflix series White House Farm.

The Guildhall in Leicester, England, is a timber framed building, with the earliest part dating from c. 1390. The Guildhall once acted as the town hall for the city until the current one was commissioned in 1876. It is located in the old walled city, on a street now known as Guildhall Lane. It was used first as the meeting place for the Guild of Corpus Christi and then later for the more formal Corporation of Leicester. The Ian Charleson Awards are theatrical awards that reward the best classical stage performances in Britain by actors under age 30. The awards are named in memory of the British actor Ian Charleson, and are run by the Sunday Times newspaper and the National Theatre. The awards were established in 1990 after Charleson's death, and have been awarded annually since then. Sunday Times theatre critic John Peter (1938–2020) initiated the creation of the awards, particularly in memory of Charleson's extraordinary Hamlet, which he had performed shortly before his death. Recipients receive a cash prize, as do runners-up and third-place winners.
