Richard C. Longo is a retired major general of the United States Army. At the time of his retirement on 22 July 2014, he was deputy commanding general and chief of staff for U.S. Army Europe. [1] He previously served as the deputy commanding general for Initial Military Training for the United States Army Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC) at Fort Monroe, Virginia.
As the Deputy Commanding General for Initial Military Training, Longo is responsible for initial training of both officers and enlisted soldiers at 27 installations across the United States. IMT has led change in several areas, to include integrating new training methods into Basic Combat Training, Advanced Individual Training and Basic Officer Leadership Courses. IMT revised the Army's Warrior Tasks and Battle Drills and further developed training in rifle marksmanship, combatives, values instruction, first-aid, and culture. IMT's "Soldier Athlete" initiative also generated changes in Physical Readiness Training, introduced Athletic Trainers and Physical Therapists to training units, and integrated performance nutrition into dining facilities (Fueling the Soldier). Completing Soldier Athlete, Longo is leading the change for the Army's new Physical Fitness Test in 2011.
Prior to becoming DCG-IMT, Longo served as the Deputy Chief of Staff, G-3/5/7 for TRADOC at Fort Monroe, Virginia. As the TRADOC G-3, he coordinated the efforts of the headquarters staff and its major subordinate organizations toward building a campaign-capable, expeditionary, and versatile Army in support of the Joint Warfighting Commander.
Major General Longo serves as the Deputy Commanding General for Initial Military Training for the United States Army Training and Doctrine Command at Fort Monroe, Virginia. Previous to taking command, Longo served as the Deputy Chief of Staff, G-3/5/7 for the United States Army Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC) at Fort Monroe, Virginia.
Prior to arriving at Fort Monroe, MG Longo served as the Director of Training, Office of the Deputy Chief of Staff G- 3/5/7, Headquarters, Department of the Army in Washington, DC. An artillery officer, he has commanded the 1st Infantry Division Artillery, United States Army Europe and Seventh Army, Germany including a combat deployment to Iraq during OPERATION IRAQI FREEDOM II; 1st Battalion, 14th Field Artillery (MLRS) at Fort Sill, Oklahoma; and at the battery level with 1st Battalion, 333rd Field Artillery in Wiesbaden, Germany. MG Longo also served as the Deputy Commander/Assistant Commandant, United States Army Field Artillery Center and School at Fort Sill.
His previous staff experience includes assignments as the Chief of Staff, U.S. Army, Pacific; Executive Officer to the Deputy Commanding General, United States Army Europe; G3, III Corps Artillery and Chief of Task Force XXI, both at Fort Sill; Chief, Operations Division at the George C. Marshall European Center for Security Studies in Garmisch, Germany; Executive Officer in 2d Battalion, 82d Field Artillery and Deputy Fire Support Coordinator for the 1st Cavalry Division at Ft Hood, Texas; Assistant Fire Support Coordinator for III Corps at Fort Hood; Plans Officer and Secretary of the General Staff in III Corps Artillery, again at Fort Sill. He also served as an Assistant Professor of Military Science at the University of North Carolina at Wilmington.
MG Longo was commissioned in 1980 after graduating from Furman University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration. He also holds master's degrees in Economics from the University of Oklahoma and in Strategic Studies from the United States Army War College in Carlisle, Pennsylvania.
His military education includes the Field Artillery Officers’ Basic Course, the Infantry Officers’ Advanced Course, the Command and General Staff College and the United States Army War College. His awards and decorations include the Legion of Merit, the Bronze Star Medal, the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, the Army Meritorious Service Medal, the Joint Service Commendation Medal, the Army Commendation Medal, and the Army Achievement Medal. He is also a recipient of the Combat Action Badge, Parachutist Badge, and Air Assault Badge.
Major General Longo is married and has four children, a granddaughter, and two grandsons.
Established 1 July 1973, the United States Army Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC) is a major command of the United States Army headquartered at Fort Eustis, Virginia. It is charged with overseeing training of Army forces and the development of operational doctrine. TRADOC operates 37 schools and centers at 27 different locations. TRADOC schools conduct 1,304 courses and 108 language courses. The 1,304 courses include 516,000 seats for 443,231 soldiers; 36,145 other-service personnel; 8,314 international soldiers; and 28,310 civilians.
Thomas Fredric Metz is a retired lieutenant general in the United States Army. Metz retired from the Army in Jan 2010 after more than 40 years of active military service. His tour of duty prior to retirement was as the director, Joint Improvised Explosive Device Defeat Organization., leading the DOD organization tasked with finding and fielding ways to defeat the IED threat. Previously he was the deputy commanding general and chief of staff, U.S. Army Training and Doctrine Command. Previous to that assignment he was commanding general of the U.S. III Corps and Fort Hood. He assumed command of III Corps on 7 February 2003.
Dennis Joe Reimer is a retired general of the United States Army, who served as the 33rd Chief of Staff of the Army from June 20, 1995 to June 21, 1999. He is also a graduate of Ranger and Airborne school.

Paul D. Eaton is a former United States Army officer most known for his command of operations to train Iraqi troops during Operation Iraqi Freedom. He previously served as Senior Adviser to the now-defunct National Security Network, a progressive Washington, D.C.-based think tank that focused on foreign policy and defense issues.
Lieutenant General Kevin T. Campbell was the commander of the U.S. Army Space and Missile Defense Command from December 2006 to December 2010, replacing Lieutenant General Larry J. Dodgen. In October 2011 Campbell began working for Northrop Grumman Corporation as vice president and corporate lead executive (CLE) for company business after retiring from the Army.
David Paul Valcourt is a retired lieutenant general of the United States Army. He served as the Deputy Commanding General and Chief of Staff, United States Army Training and Doctrine Command from February 25, 2008 to May 3, 2010, after serving as Commanding General, Eight United States Army. He was previously the Commanding General of the Field Artillery Center and Fort Sill, Oklahoma.

Starting in June 2011, he worked as the Executive Vice President for Strategic Planning for the Sierra Nevada Corporation. Maxie McFarland died on 8 November 2013 and is buried at Arlington National Cemetery. He was inducted into the Military Intelligence Hall of Fame in 2014.
John Ember "Jack" Sterling Jr. is a retired United States Army lieutenant general. He served as Deputy Commander and Chief of Staff for United States Army Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC) from 2010 to 2012, and was acting commander in 2011. He retired in June 2012.
Larry Wyche, is a retired United States Army Lieutenant General. He last served as the deputy commanding general of the U.S. Army Materiel Command. Prior to his last assignment, Wyche served as the Special Assistant to the Commanding General, U.S. Army Training and Doctrine Command. LTG David Dale Halverson assumed the duties of the commanding general of the U.S. Army Installation Management Command and Assistant Chief of Staff for Installation Management April 8, 2014. Previously, he served as deputy commanding general/chief of staff, U.S. Army Training and Doctrine Command TRADOC. Halverson assumed duties as the Deputy Commanding General/Chief of Staff, U.S. Army Training and Doctrine Command on 4 June 2012. Halverson's first duty assignment was in the 1st Cavalry Division, Fort Hood, Texas in 1979 where he served as a Battalion Reconnaissance Officer, Battery Fire Direction and Executive Officer and Battalion Adjutant. Since then, Halverson has served in various staff and leadership positions including command at every level from Battery to Post Command. His commands include A Battery, 6th Battalion, 29th Field Artillery, 8th Infantry Division; 2nd Battalion, 82nd Field Artillery, 1st Cavalry Division; 2nd Infantry Division Artillery, Operational Test Command, and Commanding General, Fires Center of Excellence and Fort Sill.
