Riley James Minix (born September 22, 2000) is an American basketball player. He played college basketball for the Southeastern Fire and the Morehead State Eagles.
Minix played high school basketball for Vero Beach High School in Vero Beach, Florida. He experienced a growth spurt before his senior season, where he broke out, averaging 17.4 points and 7.6 rebounds per game.
He committed to NAIA school Southeastern and was named first-team All-Sun Conference and conference freshman of the year his first season. In his sophomore year, he suffered an upper-body injury after eight games, sidelining him for the rest of the season. [1] in his next two seasons, Minix was named both a first-team All-American and the Sun Conference Player of the Year. [2] Following his four years at Southeastern, Minix chose to take advantage of the extra year given to players due to the interference of the COVID-19 pandemic to transfer up to NCAA Division I, ultimately choosing the Morehead State Eagles. In his lone season at Morehead State, Minix finished in the top ten in the Ohio Valley Conference (OVC) in scoring, rebounding, field goal percentage, free throw percentage, blocks, and steals. He also led the conference with 18 double-doubles. At the close of the season, he was named the OVC Player of the Year and a member of the All-OVC first team and All-Newcomer team. [4] [5]

Morehead State University (MSU) is a public university in Morehead, Kentucky. The university began as Morehead Normal School, which opened its doors in 1887. Prior to this, he held the same position at Murray State University for five seasons. Kennedy previously held the same position at Centenary and Southeastern Louisiana. The Morehead State Eagles are the athletic teams that represent Morehead State University (MSU), located in Morehead, Kentucky, United States, in intercollegiate sports as a member of the NCAA Division I ranks, primarily competing in the Ohio Valley Conference (OVC) since the 1948–49 academic year; while its football team competes in the Pioneer Football League (PFL). The Eagles previously competed in the Kentucky Intercollegiate Athletic Conference of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) from 1933–34 to 1947–48; and in the defunct West Virginia Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WVIAC) from 1929–30 to 1932–33.
The Murray State Racers men's basketball program represents Murray State University in intercollegiate men's basketball. Murray State is a member of the Missouri Valley Conference in Division I of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), having joined that conference in 2022 after 74 seasons in the Ohio Valley Conference. The Eagles finished the season 14–16, 10–6 in OVC play to finish in second place in the East Division. In the OVC tournament they lost to Murray State in the quarterfinals.
