Ringsend Bridge is a bridge over the River Dodder in Dublin, Ireland. The current bridge was opened in 1812 [2] after the previous structure was destroyed in a flood in 1802. The bridge is part of the R802 regional road and is part of Bridge Street.
In 1623 Richard Morgan first petitioned Dublin Corporation to build a bridge but this was declined.
A bridge was built in 1650 and this lasted until 1739 when it was washed away in a flood, mentioned in the Pembroke Estate Papers.
The new bridge lasted only until 1782 when another flood destroyed the structure.
A replacement bridge was begun in 1786 but was destroyed by yet another flood the following year. An illustration by John James Barralet from 1787 shows people clambering over makeshift planks attached to the collapsed bridge.
A fourth bridge was built from 1787-89 after a competition was held but this succumbed to a flood in December 1802 when over 3 inches of rain fell in 24 hours. Prior to its destruction it was described as being of "very solid and judicious construction" with a Mr. Black being noted as the contractor. [3] [4] The same storm also destroyed Ormonde Bridge and Lucan Bridge on the nearby River Liffey.
The current structure was begun in 1803 and finally completed in 1812. It appears to have been both designed and built by Dublin Corporation. [5]
It is a single arch of elliptical shape. The bridge notably has spandrel walls constructed as extensions of the voussoirs and features cornes de vache in the French style. [6] [7]
The bridge was originally named Charlotte Bridge for Princess Charlottle, daughter of the Prince Regent, later George IV. [8]

Areas included in Ringsend are the south side of the Dublin Docklands, and at the west end is the area of South Lotts and part of the Grand Canal Dock area. Neighbouring areas include Irishtown, Sandymount and the Beggars Bush part of Ballsbridge to the south, and the city centre to the west. A key feature of the area is the chimneys of Poolbeg power station.

Lucan Bridge is a road bridge spanning the River Liffey in Lucan, County Dublin, Ireland. It joins Lucan's Main Street to the Lower Lucan Road, carrying traffic towards Clonsilla and the north, and the Strawberry Beds to the east. Designed by George Knowles, it was built in 1814. Constructed in collaboration with James Savage at a cost of more than £9,000, it replaced several previous bridges which had been carried away by floods.

The River Tolka, also once spelled Tolga, is one of Dublin's three main rivers, flowing from County Meath to Fingal within the old County Dublin, and through the north of Dublin city, Ireland. By flow of water, the Tolka is the second largest river in Dublin, following the Liffey, but runs more slowly than the Dodder.
The River Poddle is a river in Dublin, Ireland, a pool which gave the city its English language name. Boosted by a channel made by the Abbey of St. Thomas à Becket, taking water from the far larger River Dodder, the Poddle was the main source of drinking water for the city for more than 500 years, from the 1240s. The Poddle, which flows wholly within the traditional County Dublin, is one of around a hundred members of the River Liffey system, and one of over 135 watercourses in the county; it has just one significant natural tributary, the Commons Water from Crumlin.

The R112 road is a regional road in south Dublin, Ireland. It begins at the junction with the R148 road at Chapelizod and arcs southeastwards, then eastwards across the middle of south Dublin, ending at the Mount Merrion junction of the R138. The road is a single carriageway, with cycle lanes on some stretches. Improvements to the road have been made over the last 10 years, the most significant being at Dundrum Cross where the road was widened to make room for the new Luas bridge and Dundrum bypass.
Green's Bridge, or Greensbridge, is an elegant, Palladian-style, limestone arch bridge that crosses the river Nore in Kilkenny, Ireland. The bridge is a series of five elliptical arches of high-quality carved limestone masonry with a two-arch culvert to the east. Its graceful profile, architectural design value, and civil engineering heritage endow it with national significance. Historian Maurice Craig described it as one of the five-finest bridges in Ireland. It was built by William Colles and designed by George Smith, and was completed in 1766. The bridge was 250 years old in 2016.
