Rini Wulandari (born 28 April 1990) or known by her stage name, RINNI, is an Indonesian R&B singer. On 28 July 2007, she won the fourth season of the reality television show Indonesian Idol , making her the second female winner. She won the competition at the age of 17, making her the first youngest winner in Indonesian Idol history.

Biography

Early life

Rini Wulandari was born to R.Soetrisno and Sri Hartati Mardiningish. She is the youngest of four children. She came from a family of musicians. Her mother was a former lead singer of Quintana Band and her father was a bassist when he was young. Rini became the lead singer of Quintana, following in the footsteps of her mother. Rini graduated from SMA Negeri 1 Medan in 2008.

Indonesian Idol

Rini auditioned for Idol in her hometown of Medan on the second day auditions. On 5 May 2007, Rini made it into the top twelve of Indonesian Idol or also known Spectacular rounds. In the first spectacular round, she sang Warna's "50 Tahun Lagi". During the top 6 performances which was Percussion Night week, Rini sang a rendition of Gloria Estefan's "Conga" which garnered her a top 5 position. Other songs Rini performed on Indonesian Idol include Christina Aguilera's "Reflection", Mariah Carey's "Emotions", and Celine Dion's "Because You Loved Me". Rini made it to the finale and won the title over Wilson with 51.2% of the audience vote. [1]

After Idol

Rinni Wulandari has released 4 albums, 'Aku Tetap Milikmu'(2007)'Independent Part 1'(2015) 'Independent Part 2'(2017) and her latest album SKINS (2021).

Rinni has another duo project "SOUNDWAVE" along with her husband, Jevin Julian. They met on the Producer/Remixer Competition on Net TV in 2015. Since than, they decided to keep making music as a duo until now.[ clarification needed ]

Through her career, Rinni Wulandari has been nominated in several music awards, such as AMI Awards, Anugrah Planet Muzik Singapore, and Indonesian Choice Awards. In 2020, she won AMI Awards for the first time as The Best R&B Singer. She also performed at Music Matters Singapore in 2015. Rinni performed for the opening ceremony ASEAN GAMES in 2018. She collaborated with other South East Asian artists for a charity single 'Heal' for COVID-19 in August 2020.

The 4th season of Indonesian Idol premiered on RCTI on March 30, 2007 and concluded on July 28, 2007. Daniel Mananta and Ata continued to host the show. On the workshop round plus the first two spectacular show, Daniel hosted the show alone due to Ata's pregnancy. Ata started joining Daniel back hosting the show on the third spectacular show. Additionally, Nirina Zubir and Indra Bekti were also announced as the hosts of Idol Banget, a behind-the-scenes show of Indonesian Idol.

The seventh season of Indonesian Idol premiered on RCTI on February 17, 2012. The show aired every Friday at 8:00 pm and Re-run aired every Sunday at 1:00 pm. Daniel Mananta returned as the host, while Anang Hermansyah and Agnes Monica returned as the judges, and musician and hits-maker Ahmad Dhani replaced Erwin Gutawa as the third judges. Fabian Dharmawan became the new Executive Producer. Vokal Plus founder & CEO Indra Aziz, and Irvan Nat, both of them are professional vocal couches, became the new in-house mentors to work with the contestants on a weekly basis. Universal Music Indonesia replaced Sony Music Entertainment Indonesia as Idol's official partner record label. Cross Mobile, Coolant, Honda and Mie Sedaap, were the official sponsors of the show. This season followed the same format as American Idol season 11 and used the new title screen & logo with a different font started from Spectacular round.

Ratu was an Indonesian music duo formed in 1999 with Maia Estianty, then the wife of musician Ahmad Dhani, on instruments and Pinkan Mambo on vocals. Ratu entered the Indonesian musical scene with their first album, Bersama. After a short break caused by Mambo's departure in 2004, the group formed anew with Mulan Kwok as vocalist. This new line-up proved more successful, with their most successful songs – "Teman Tapi Mesra" and "Lelaki Buaya Darat" ("Womaniser") – released in this period; both song titles later became common terms in the Indonesian vocabulary. The group's second studio album, No. Satu, sold 200,000 copies on the day of its release, a record for an album by an Indonesian female group. The group dissolved in 2007.

The eighth season of Indonesian Idol, also known as Indonesian Idol 2014: A Decade of Dreams, premiered on RCTI on December 27, 2013. Anang Hermansyah and Ahmad Dhani returned as the judges. Agnes Monica was replaced by Tantri of Kotak, and Titi DJ, who returned to the show for her sixth season after her absence in season 6 and 7. Raisa and Indra Lesmana replace Titi and Anang during the Yogyakarta auditions. Later during the Spectacular weeks, Raisa replaced Titi during the Top 9 performances and Tantri during the Top 5. Indra replaced Tantri during the Top 8 performances. Daniel Mananta returns as the host.
