Nowela Elizabeth Mikhelia Auparay (born 19 December 1987) is an Indonesian singer and winner of the eighth season of Indonesian Idol .

Career

Nowela was born in Wamena, Papua. Her father is of Papua New Guinean descent, and her mother is of Batak descent. After graduating from high school, she worked as a café singer for six years before participating in the eighth season of Indonesian Idol . [1]

She won the twelfth season of Indonesian Idol broadcast by the television broadcaster RCTI in 2023, as well as being the first female singer wearing the hijab in the history of Indonesian Idol to win the competition. After winning, she performed the winning song as well as her debut single entitled "Menghargai Kata Rindu" which was released on 19 May 2023, with a different version from Nabila Taqiyyah, through the record label Universal Music Indonesia.
