Rituraj Mohanty better known by his stage name Rituraj, is an Indian singer. Mohanty is the winner of a singing competition-show India's Raw Star. [1]
Rituraj Mohanty was born in Nimapada town of Puri district of Odisha. He is the elder son of Sri Chakradhar Mohanty and Pravati Mohanty. Sri Chakradhar Mohanty is a musician (Tabla) by profession and singer in small-time jatra dunia. The cousin elder brother Sri Sumanta Mohanty was a reputed music director in oriya classical music industry. He learnt Odissi music at Utkal Sangeet Mahavidyalaya, Bhubaneswar. He left singing after meeting an accident. He then left for Mumbai seeking for a job and met his family during the show. [2]
Mohanty was trying to get a break as a professional singer. In 2014, he sang the song "Sahib" in Bollywood movie Bhoothnath Returns. He won as one of the three contestants of the "India's Raw Star" and won the competition. [3] Before that he also sang a song named Aam Ke Aam Honge on Satyamev Jayate (Season 2), then he also got some break in Bollywood industry., [4] [5] recently he sung a song for upcoming movie The Pushkar Lodge and also acted in the movie as a leading singer of a rock band. Paresh Rawal is an Indian actor, comedian, film producer and politician known for his works primarily in Hindi films. He has appeared in over 240 films and is the recipient of various accolades. "Rangabati" is perhaps the most popular recorded song in Sambalpuri Odia. Krishna Patel, a 2023 Padma Shri awardee, is the female singer while the male singer Jitendra Haripal is a 2017 Padma Shri awardee. The song was first recorded for All India Radio in the mid-1970s. A record company from the then Calcutta, Indian Record Manufacturing Company Ltd (INRECO), re-recorded the song in 1976. The disc release was delayed due to a dispute and finally released in 1978–79. The Sambalpuri song was written by Mitrabhanu Gauntia, composed by Prabhudatta Pradhan and sung by Jitendra Haripal and Krishna Patel. In the 1970s and 1980s, the song gained popularity for being commonly played in marriage processions and Murti immersion. The song gained official recognition when it was played in the tableau of Odisha as part of the Republic Day celebrations at New Delhi in 2007. The lead singer Jitendra Haripal was also felicitated by Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik later that year. It was also notably used in the celebration of victory during an international cricket match in Barabati Stadium, Cuttack. "Rangabati" was recreated in many other languages of India and has been recreated in Telugu for a movie.

It was hosted by model-actress and Bigg Boss 7 winner Gauahar Khan and mentored by singer-rapper Yo Yo Honey Singh. Rituraj Mohanty won the first season on 30 November 2014 with Darshan Raval and Mohit Gaur finishing second and third respectively. The other contestants were Sagar Bhatia, Akasa Singh, pardeep singh sran etc. Mohan Rathore, winner of a Bhojpuri singing competition 'Sur Sangram' was also one of the contestants. Arjun Kapoor and Deepika Padukone made guest appearances in the show. India's Raw Star' witnessed singers like Kailash Kher, Mohit Chauhan and Shaan perform in the final episode with finalists Rituraj, Mohit and Darshan. The finalists sang the final face off song composed by Sachin and Jigar on the occasion, while Arjun Kapoor, promoted his film Tevar.
Sa Re Ga Ma Pa L'il Champs 2014 was the fifth season of Sa Re Ga Ma Pa L'il Champs, a singing competition television series, which premiered on 27 December 2014 on Zee TV.
