A coast guard or coastguard is a maritime security organization of a particular country. The term embraces wide range of responsibilities in different countries, from being a heavily armed military force with customs and security duties to being a volunteer organization tasked with search and rescue without law enforcement authority. A typical coast guard's functions are distinct from those of the navy and the transit police.

The Ministry of Emergency Situations of Belarus is a government agency overseeing emergency services in Belarus. It is responsible for protecting the Belarusian people during natural disasters. It is located on Revaliucyjnaja Street in Minsk. The Ministry for Emergency Situations was established in accordance a decree of President Alexander Lukashenko on September 23, 1994.
The Minister for Affairs for Civil Defence, Emergencies and Elimination of Consequences of Natural Disasters also known as the Minister of Emergency Situations is the head of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations.
