The Rivers State Ministry of Youth Development is a government ministry of Rivers State, Nigeria entrusted with the task of dealing with matters relating to youth affairs in the state. The ministry is mandated to empower the youths statewide and engage in activities that aim to assist them to develop, identify and pursue their goals. [1] The headquarters are located at 7th Floor, State Secretariat building, Port Harcourt. [2]

Vision

The vision statement of the ministry is: "To empower the Rivers State youth to become self-reliant and socially responsible citizens of the state."

Mission

The ministry mission statement is: "To prepare the youths for present and future challenges to achieve socio-cultural and economic well-being for selfless service, responsibility citizenship and effective leadership."

Mandate

  1. To articulate relevant programmes of action for youth development in Rivers State.
  2. Design guidelines for youth development activities in the state.
  3. Coordinate and monitor youth development activities at the state local government area levels of Government and the collaborative partners.
  4. Create opportunities for the youth to be involved in decision-making progresses in the matters that affect them, environment and society.
  5. Inculcate in the youth, human right values, social justice, equity, fairness and gender equality.
  6. Promotion conducive atmosphere for mental, emotional and physical development of the youth.
  7. Provide adequate funding for the non-formal training of the youth in life skills.
  8. Collaborate with all stakeholders for the funding of youth activities.

Youth empowerment

They do this by addressing their situation and then take action in order to improve their access to resources and transform their consciousness through their beliefs, values, and attitudes. Youth empowerment aims to improve quality of life. Youth empowerment is achieved through participation in youth empowerment programs. However scholars argue that children’s rights implementation should go beyond learning about formal rights and procedures to give birth to a concrete experience of rights. There are numerous models that youth empowerment programs use that help youth achieve empowerment. A variety of youth empowerment initiatives are underway around the world. These programs can be through non-profit organizations, government organizations, schools or private organizations.

International Trade Centre

Rajiv Gandhi National Institute of Youth Development

The Rajiv Gandhi National Institute of Youth Development (RGNIYD), Sriperumbudur, Tamil Nadu, is an Institution of National Importance by the Act of Parliament No. 35/2012 under the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, Government of India. The RGNIYD was set up in 1993 under the Societies Registration Act, XXVII of 1975.

Koyamada International Foundation, commonly referred to as KIF or KIF Global, is an international non-governmental organization, with its mission to improve quality of people's life by empowering global youth and women to reach their full potential and by providing humanitarian aid to promote global peace and sustainable development. It has affiliated national chapter members in seven countries.
