Sir Robert Onyebuchi Anwatu (born January 30, 1957) is a Nigerian businessman from Nnewi, Anambra State. He is the Founder and chief executive officer of Roban Group, which consists of Roban Hotels and Roban Stores. He was also the former president of the Enugu Chamber of Commerce Industry, Mining and Agriculture (ECCIMA). [1] [2]
Sir Robert Anwatu, a Nigerian entrepreneur, embarked on his business journey after completing his National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in Benin. In 1985, he opened his first gift store, Robnat Gift, which marked the beginning of his entrepreneurial journey.
In 1987, Robnat Gift was incorporated and rebranded as Ultimate Gift Ltd. Two years later, in 1989, a new store was established in Warri, which later relocated to Enugu in 1990. In 1999, Ultimate Gift underwent another transformation, emerging as Roban Stores.
Under his leadership, Roban Stores has evolved into a reputable grocery shop, offering a diverse range of products. As the founder and driving force behind the company, Sir Robert is responsible for shaping and executing the company's long-term strategies, ensuring its continued growth and success. [3]
Sir Robert is also a Knight of Good Shepherd of the Anglican Communion, He is a former member state advisory committee, local economic empowerment programme (LEEMP), Enugu state and poverty reduction and empowerment programme of Enugu state. He is a past president of Enugu chamber of Commerce and Rotary Club of New Haven. [4]
