Robert H. Eckel is an American endocrinologist. He holds the Charles A. Boettcher II Endowed Chair in atherosclerosis at the University of Colorado Denver, where he is also a professor of medicine and professor of physiology and biophysics. [1] [2] In 2016 Eckel was among the recipients of the Laureate Awards of the Endocrine Society, as Outstanding Clinical Investigator. He has done significant research in the biology and pathophysiology of lipoprotein lipase. [3]

Eckel was on the Scientific Advisory Council of the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases at the National Institutes of Health. [4] His research area includes nutrition, insulin action, energy balance and body weight regulation. [5]

Eckel is a former president of the American Heart Association, and a fellow of the American College of Cardiology and the American College of Physicians; he received the Robert H. Herman Award from the American Society for Nutrition in 2011. [6]

Daniel Willett Foster, M.D., M.A.C.P. was the John Denis McGarry, Ph.D. Distinguished Chair in Diabetes and Metabolic Research and Professor of Internal Medicine at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School at Dallas. He was Chairman of the Department of Internal Medicine for 16 years. He was a Fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science and a member of the Institute of Medicine of the National Academies. He was a Master of the American College of Physicians. He was also a former member of the President's Council on Bioethics.

Daniel David Federman, MD was an American endocrinologist and a Carl W. Walter Distinguished Professor of Medicine and the Dean for Medical Education at Harvard Medical School. He also worked for over thirty years from Boston's Brigham and Women's Hospital, a Harvard teaching hospital in the Longwood Medical Area.
