Robert Rubel is an American football coach. He was the former head football coach at Robinson High School in Robinson, Texas, a position he has held from 2020 up until 2021. [1] Rubel served as the head football coach at Tabor College in Hillsboro, Kansas for one season, in 2006. [2] Rubel had interviewed for the head position at Texas A&M University–Kingsville, considered to be one of the more prestigious coaching opportunities in NCAA Division II In his one season as head coach at Tabor, the team accomplished a record of 6–4. Rubel was only the second coach in school history to have a winning record in his first season. [3]
Rubel is known as a defensive coach and has long been a proponent of the 46 defense. At Cisco College he had the 13th-ranked defense in the nation, giving up 278 yards per game. Cisco also ranked third nationally in turnovers with 35, and first in interceptions with 21. At North Dakota State College of Science (NDSCS), his defense ranked ninth nationally with 227 yards per game, and helped NDSCS to a Graphic Edge Bowl win. At Tabor, the defense was ranked 12th in the nation in rush defense at 88 yards per game, 24th in total defense at 262 yards per game, and 26th in scoring defense at 19 points per game, while breaking the school record for defensive touchdowns. At Buffalo High School, the defense was first in the district in scoring defense and fourth in the region, taking the team to its first playoff win in 55 years, and first 10-win season in 56 years.
Rubel was an assistant coach and defensive coordinator at East Central University in Ada, Oklahoma. [4] He also was an assistant coach at Abilene Christian University in Abilene, Texas. [5]

Gregory McIntosh Robinson was an American college and professional football coach. Robinson served as the head football coach at Syracuse University from 2005 to 2008. He has served as an assistant coach with several other college football programs and for three teams in the National Football League (NFL): the New York Jets from 1990 to 1994, the Denver Broncos from 1995 to 2000, and the Kansas City Chiefs from 2001 to 2003. With the Broncos, Robinson was a member of two Super Bowl championship teams. In more recent years he has served as the defensive coordinator at the University of Texas at Austin, in 2004 and for part of the 2013 season, and at the University of Michigan, from 2009 to 2010.
Randy Leonard Shannon is an American football coach and former player. He is the linebackers coach and co-defensive coordinator for Florida State. Shannon was the head coach at the University of Miami from 2007 to 2010 and has served as an assistant coach for the National Football League (NFL)'s Miami Dolphins and several college teams, including stints as the defensive coordinator for the Miami Hurricanes, the Florida Gators, and the UCF Knights. He won the Frank Broyles Award as the nation's top collegiate assistant coach while at Miami in 2001.
George Michael Hankwitz is a former American football coach and player. He was the defensive coordinator at Northwestern University, a position he had held from 2008 to 2020. Hankwitz has twice served as an interim head football coach, for seven games in 2003 at the University of Arizona and for one game in 2005, the Champs Sports Bowl, with the University of Colorado–Boulder, compiling a career head coaching record of 1–7.
Arthur Ray Briles is an American football coach who is currently the head coach for the Guelfi Firenze in the Italian Football League. Briles was the head coach of the Houston Cougars from 2002 to 2007 and the Baylor Bears from 2008 to 2015. His college coaching career ended with his dismissal from the team in 2015 as a result of the Baylor University sexual assault scandal. He is the author of Beating Goliath: My Story of Football and Faith (2014). He is the subject of a biography written by Nick Eatman titled Looking Up: My Journey from Tragedy to Triumph (2013).
The Oil Bowl is a high school football all-star game in Wichita Falls, Texas. The game began in 1938, originally between East and West Texas high school football all-stars. In 1945, the game began pitting teams from Oklahoma and Texas, and continued in that format until 2012. In 2013, a dispute concerning the disposition of Oklahoma's share of the game's charitable proceeds led the Oklahoma Coaches Association to withdraw from the game, and the 2013 game matched two Texas teams. For the years in which Texas and Oklahoma teams played, the overall record was 46–19–1 in favor of Texas.
William Lawrence Muschamp is an American football coach and former player who is a defensive analyst at the University of Georgia. He previously served as the Bulldogs' co-defensive coordinator and safeties coach from 2022 to 2024. Before his time at Georgia, he served as head football coach at the University of Florida from 2011 to 2014 and at the University of South Carolina from 2016 to 2020.
Paul Robert Rhoads is an American football coach. He is currently the outside linebackers coach at Gulf Shores High School. A long-time major conference assistant coach and head coach, he is best-known for his seven-year tenure as head coach at Iowa State.
Daniel "Sonny" Dykes is an American football coach, and a former college baseball player. He is currently the head football coach at Texas Christian University (TCU), and previously served in the same role at Southern Methodist University (SMU) from 2018 to 2021, the University of California, Berkeley from 2013 to 2016, and Louisiana Tech University from 2010 to 2012. In his first season at TCU, he led the Horned Frogs to a win in the semifinal and an appearance in the National Championship game.
Russell Frederick Huesman is an American football coach and former player. He was named head football coach at the University of Richmond on December 14, 2016 after spending eight years as head coach of the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. The Spiders compete in the NCAA Division I Football Championship Subdivision as members of the Coastal Athletic Association Football Conference.
Manuel Alberto Diaz II is an American football coach who is the head football coach at Duke University. He served as the defensive coordinator and linebackers coach at Pennsylvania State University from 2022 to 2023 and as the head football coach at the University of Miami from 2019 to 2021. Diaz previously worked as an assistant football coach at Mississippi State University, Louisiana Tech University, the University of Texas at Austin, Middle Tennessee State University, North Carolina State University, and Florida State University.
Everett Rowe Withers is an American football coach and former player. He is the defensive coordinator and outside linebackers coach for the Temple Owls. He was the defensive coordinator at FIU, and was the defensive backs coach for the New York Giants and as the head coach for the Texas State Bobcats. Withers served as head football coach at University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill during the 2011 season as well as James Madison University in the 2014 and 2015 seasons.

Joshua King Eargle is an American football coach and former player. He is the Deputy Head Coach and Offensive Line Coach at Florida International University (FIU). Eargle served as the head football coach at East Texas Baptist University (ETBU) from 2013 to 2015, winning the 2015 ASC Championship and named ASC Coach of the Year.
The 2012 Abilene Christian Wildcats football team represented Abilene Christian University as a member of the Lone Star Conference (LSC) during the 2012 NCAA Division II football season. Led by first-year head coach Ken Collums, the Wildcats compiled an overall record of 7–4 with a mark of 4–4 in conference play, tying for fifth place in the LSC. The team played home games at Shotwell Stadium in Abilene, Texas.
The 2012 Lone Star Conference football began on August 30 when West Texas A&M lost to CSU-Pueblo and ended with West Texas A&M loss against Winston-Salem in the NCAA D2 Semi Final on December 8. It was Abilene Christian and Incarnated Word last season before they moved to NCAA D1 Southland Conference.
The 1973 Abilene Christian Wildcats football team was an American football team that represented Abilene Christian College (ACC) during the 1973 NAIA Division I football season. In their sixth season under head coach Wally Bullington, and their first season as a member of the Lone Star Conference (LSC), the Wildcats compiled an 11–1 record, won the LSC championship, and outscored all opponents by a total of 466 to 206. They advanced to the NAIA playoff, defeating Langston (34–6) in the semifinals and Elon (42–14) in the Champion Bowl to win the 1973 NAIA Division I football national championship.
The 1946 Texas Conference football season was the season of college football played by the member schools of the Texas Conference as part of the 1946 college football season. Abilene Christian and Southwestern (TX) tied for the conference championship. None of the Texas Conference teams was ranked in the Associated Press poll or played in a bowl game.
Elijah Robinson is an American football coach and former player who is the defensive coordinator of the Syracuse Orange. He played college football for the Penn State Nittany Lions and has coached them as well as the Temple Owls, Baylor Bears, and Texas A&M Aggies.
