Robert Prosser Tyler (born June 18,1995) is an American former professional baseball pitcher.
Tyler attended Crisp County High School in Cordele,Georgia. [1] [2] In 2013,his senior year,the Albany Herald named him their Player of the Year. [3] He then enrolled at the University of Georgia to play college baseball for the Georgia Bulldogs. [4] As a freshman, Collegiate Baseball named Tyler a Freshman All-American. [5] In 2015,he played collegiate summer baseball with the Bourne Braves of the Cape Cod Baseball League. [6]
The Colorado Rockies selected Tyler with the 38th overall selection of the 2016 MLB draft. [7] [8] Tyler signed with Colorado and was assigned to the Boise Hawks of the Class A-Short Season Northwest League,where he posted an 0–2 record and 6.43 ERA in five starts (seven innings). [9] He did not pitch in 2017 due to shoulder fatigue. [10] In 2018,he pitched for the Asheville Tourists of the Class A South Atlantic League and the Lancaster JetHawks of the Class A-Advanced California League,going a combined 4–3 with a 5.10 ERA over 47.2 innings. Tyler played for Lancaster in 2019,going 1–0 with a 8.16 ERA over 28.2 innings. [11] He announced his retirement on January 12,2020.
Daniel Paul Bard is an American professional baseball pitcher for the Colorado Rockies of Major League Baseball (MLB). He previously played for the Boston Red Sox from 2009 to 2013. In 2011,Bard set a Red Sox team record with 25 consecutive scoreless appearances. His highest velocity pitch was 102 miles per hour (164 km/h). In subsequent years,Bard experienced a loss of control over his pitches,derailing his playing career. After pitching in only two major league games during 2013,he played for several minor league teams before retiring in 2017 to become a player mentor. In 2020,Bard returned as a player after regaining his control,earned a spot on the Rockies' MLB roster,and went on to win the National League Comeback Player of the Year Award as their closing pitcher.
