Roché Emanuelson (born April 5, 1982) is a Surinamese footballer who plays as a defender for Boma Star in the Hoofdklasse, and for the Suriname national team. He has also played for SV Transvaal, SV Robinhood, Royal '95 and SV Leo Victor in the past. [1]

He also plays futsal, having played for Styx Kuldipsingh, and for Telesur in the SZVB Hoofdklasse and for the national futsal team. [2]

Career

Emanuelson began his career in Paramaribo, Suriname. In 1999, he made his debut in the Hoofdklasse playing for SV Transvaal, helping his side to the national championship, winning the Surinamese Footballer of the Year award by the end of the season. [3] The following season, however, no competition was held in Suriname. In 2002, he signed with SV Robinhood, the former club of his heralded Uncle Errol Emanuelson. After two seasons, Emanuelson transferred once more, this time to Royal '95, only to return to Robinhood after three seasons. [4] In 2009 Emanuelson signed with SV Leo Victor whom he helped to win the Surinamese Cup in 2014, having also played in the CFU Club Championship. [5] The following season saw Emanuelson join his fifth club in the league when he signed with Boma Star. [6]

International career

Emanuelson plays for the Suriname national team. He has played in FIFA World Cup qualification matches, as well as the CFU Championship. [7] [8] In 2010, he helped Suriname to win the ABCS Tournament, scoring once in the final against Curaçao, in a 2–2 draw which was decided on penalties. [9]

Personal life

Emanuelson is the nephew of former Suriname International football star Errol Emanuelson. His cousins are Dutch International footballer Urby Emanuelson, and former professional footballer Julian Emanuelson both brothers, and their sister Sharifa Emanuelson, a former basketball player in the Netherlands. Edwien Reinier Schal, known as Wiene Schal is a retired Surinamese footballer who started his career as a forward for SV Transvaal in the Hoofdklasse, and for the Suriname national team. A striker for the majority of his career, he was utilized more as defender towards the end of his career. He is considered one of the greatest footballers in the countries history, having captained SV Transvaal to two CONCACAF Champions Cups and five national titles, in what is considered the golden age of the club's history.

Delano Lloyd Rigters is a former Surinamese International football player who played his entire career in Suriname, playing for Voorwaarts, MVV, Robinhood as well as for the Suriname national team. He spent 16 years with Robinhood, finishing as the league top goal scorer four times. Ronald Wilfried Kolf is a former Surinamese football manager and player who last served as the technical director of the Suriname national team and a board member of Surinamese football club S.V. Leo Victor.

Umberto Orlando Klinker is a former Surinamese football player who played the majority of his career for S.V. Robinhood in the SVB Hoofdklasse and for the Suriname national team. Klinker helped Robinhood to win several national championships in the eighties and finished as the league top scorer in 1982 and 1983.

Rinaldo Stanley Entingh is a former Surinamese footballer. He played as a midfielder in the SVB Hoofdklasse for S.V. Robinhood and for the Suriname national team.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">SVB Derde Divisie</span> Football league

The SVB Derde Divisie is an annual football tournament organized by the Surinamese Football Association (SVB) since 2006. It is also known as the SURIBET Lidbondentoernooi due to sponsorship. The tournament is contested by the winners and runners-up of the districts leagues from the 20 regional member associations of the SVB. The winner and runner-up of the tournament can then qualify for the SVB Eerste Klasse, the 2nd tier of football in Suriname. In 2017, the competition was rebranded as the SVB Derde Divisie.
