Ron Lopez (born August 21, 1970) is a former American football quarterback who spent the summer of 1999 with the NFL San Diego Chargers and played eight seasons in the Arena Football League with the Iowa Barnstormers, Anaheim Piranhas, Florida Bobcats, San Jose SaberCats, Portland Forest Dragons/Oklahoma Wranglers and Carolina Cobras. He first enrolled at Glendale College before transferring to Utah State University. He attended Franklin High School in Los Angeles, California. [1]

Professional career

Lopez played for the Iowa Barnstormers from 1995 to 1996, where he was the backup to Kurt Warner. [2] [3] Lopez was traded to the Anaheim Piranhas for Nathan Burchette in March 1997. [3] Lopez was named the starting quarterback for the Piranhas' opening game against the New Jersey Red Dogs. [4] He signed with the Florida Bobcats on June 12, 1997. [5] Lopez played for the San Jose SaberCats in 1998, recording 47 touchdowns on 2,769 passing yards. [2] He played for the Portland Forest Dragons in 1999, recording 38 touchdowns on 25,74 passing yards. [2] Attended Camp the summer of 1999 with the San Diego Chargers before rejoining the Portland Forrest Dragons who moved to Oklahoma in 2000. He recorded 90 touchdowns on 5,367 passing yards for the Oklahoma Wranglers from 2000 to 2001. [2] Lopez signed with the Carolina Cobras on March 8, 2003. [6]

Personal life

Lopez was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin lymphoma in February 2007 and declared cancer-free in August 2007. [7] [8]

Mark Richard Grieb is a former Arena football quarterback who spent the majority of his career with the San Jose SaberCats of the Arena Football League (AFL). Grieb currently serves as the head coach of the Sacred Heart Prep Gators football team in Atherton, California. He was a 13-year veteran of the AFL, having played quarterback for the Anaheim Piranhas (1997) and San Jose SaberCats. Grieb also played in NFL Europe for the Scottish Claymores (1998) and in the XFL with the Las Vegas Outlaws (2001). Grieb is the second quarterback in AFL history to throw for over 47,000 yards, over 900 touchdowns, over 3,800 completions, and over 10,000 pass attempts. He officially retired on November 8, 2012. He played college football at University of California, Davis. Grieb passed for 48,080 yards between the Arena League, XFL and NFL Europe.

Craig Dominic Whelihan is a retired American football quarterback in the NFL, XFL, and AFL. He played college football at the University of the Pacific.

The Western Division was one of four divisions that previously made up the Arena Football League. The Western Division was formed in 1992 when the AFL first split into three divisions. The League used only conferences in 1993 and 1994, but returned to division play in 1995. Because the number of active AFL teams has decreased greatly in recent years, the league no longer uses divisions.

Carson Coffman is a former professional football quarterback. Coffman was the starting quarterback for the Kansas State Wildcats in 2009 and 2010. He took over the starting position after the departure of Josh Freeman, and again after the departure of Grant Gregory. He is the brother of Cameron Coffman, a 2011 high school quarterback prospect and Chase Coffman, former Missouri standout who formerly played tight end for the Seattle Seahawks and several other NFL teams. J. J. Raterink American football player and coach (born 1981)

Jason J. Raterink is an American football coach and former quarterback, who is the current Quarterbacks Coach at the University of Northern Colorado. He played college football at Wyoming. He went undrafted during the 2005 NFL Draft.

Prior to joining the SaberCats, he played for the Shreveport Pirates of the Canadian Football League and the Anaheim Piranhas, Portland Forest Dragons, and Oklahoma Wranglers of the AFL. Prior to playing professionally, Reed played collegiate football at UNLV.
