Roots & Crowns is the sixth studio album by American indie rock band Califone. It was released on October 10, 2006, on Thrill Jockey.

Contents

The LP version of the album contains different artwork. The song "The Orchids" is a cover of the Psychic TV song of the same name.

Tim Rutili

Tim Rutili American musician, filmmaker, and visual artist. Founder and principle songwriter for critically acclaimed bands Califone and Red Red Meat. He is also a member of the Indie rock supergroup Ugly Casanova, which included Modest Mouse singer Isaac Brock, producer and former Red Red Meat bandmate Brian Deck, and others. He is a frequent collaborator of Michael Krassner and Boxhead ensemble. He also appears on Joan of Arc's album Guitar Duets, performing a duet with Jeremy Boyle and Modest Mouse's Everywhere and His Nasty Parlour Tricks and The Moon & Antarctica.

Wrekmeister Harmonies

Wrekmeister Harmonies, led by musician and composer JR Robinson, is an experimental music collective. Named after the Béla Tarr movie Werckmeister Harmonies, it combines elements of drone music, serialism, post-rock, and heavy metal. Wrekmeister Harmonies typically performs a single composition, often almost an hour in length, beginning with a slow build, shifting into a cathartic middle section, concluding with either a peaceful or disquieting resolution.

Streams of Thought, Vol. 1 is the debut EP by the American rapper and lead emcee of The Roots, Black Thought. It was released on June 1, 2018, by the independent distributor Human Re Sources. Primarily produced by 9th Wonder, with one contribution from Khrysis of The Soul Council, it marks Black Thought's first solo release outside of his work with The Roots. The EP features guest appearances by Rapsody, Styles P, and KIRBY.
