On the night of his death,he was stopped by police in Wimbledon for erratic driving,and fled across rail tracks at Wimbledon Park tube station,where he was electrocuted and then hit by a train. The son of former England batsman Matthew Maynard,he was regarded as a highly promising young player.

The 2022 County Championship was the 122nd cricket County Championship season in England and Wales. The season began on 7 April and ended on 29 September 2022. Warwickshire were the defending champions.
