Rory Waterman is an American chemist. He is a full professor and associate dean of inorganic,organometallic,and catalysis at the University of Vermont.
Waterman attended the University of Rochester for his Bachelor of Science and the University of Chicago for his Ph.D. After completing his doctoral degree in 2004,he accepted a two-year Miller Research Fellowship at the University of California,Berkeley. [1]
Waterman joined the University of Vermont's (UVM) college of arts and sciences as an assistant professor of chemistry in 2006. [2] His research at UVM focuses on finding new ways to build chemical bonds,specifically in the chemical element Phosphorus. As a result of his research,he received the 2009 Alfred P. Sloan Award for outstanding early career scientists. [3] Beyond this,Waterman also established research opportunities for Vermont high school and University of Vermont undergraduate students which resulted in him winning the 2009 Cottrell Scholar from the Research Corporation for Science Advancement. [4]
In 2011,Waterman received funding from the National Science Foundation (NSF) and Major Research Instrumentation (MRI) grant program to purchase a single crystal XRD to collect structural data on crystalline solids. [5] Following this,he was promoted to Associate Professor of Chemistry with Tenure. [6] In this role,Waterman co-published Expanding the CURE Model:Course-Based Undergraduate Research Experience with Associate Professor Jennifer Heemstra in 2018. [7] His research in the discovery and investigation of new catalysts and contributions as co-founder of the New Faculty Workshop were recognized with fellowships from the American Chemical Society,American Institute of Chemists,and Royal Society of Chemistry. During the COVID-19 pandemic in North America,Waterman was the principal investigator on a grant aimed at improving diversity in science departments across academic institutions. [9] He was also elected an Gund Institute for Environment Faculty Fellow. [10]
Kendall Newcomb Houk is a Distinguished Research Professor in Organic Chemistry at the University of California,Los Angeles. His research group studies organic,organometallic,and biological reactions using the tools of computational chemistry. This work involves quantum mechanical calculations,often with density functional theory,and molecular dynamics,either quantum dynamics for small systems or force fields such as AMBER,for solution and protein simulations.

William R. Roush is an American organic chemist. He studied chemistry at the University of California Los Angeles and Harvard University. Following a year postdoctoral appointment at Harvard,he joined that faculty at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. In 1987,Dr. Roush moved to Indiana University and was promoted to Professor in 1989 and Distinguished Professor in 1995. Two years later,he moved to the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor and served as the Warner Lambert/Parke Davis Professor of Chemistry. He served as chair of the University of Michigan's Department of Chemistry from 2002-2004. In 2004 Professor Roush relocated with his group to the Jupiter,Florida,campus of the Scripps Research Institute (TSRI) where he is currently an emeritus professor.

He is currently a professor at the University of California,Berkeley and a member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. He is a Professor of Chemistry and a Professor of Materials Science. His research group studies the synthesis of nanomaterials and their electronic and optical properties. Amanda E. Hargrove is a chemist and professor at Duke University. Hargrove is also the editor-in-chief of Medicinal Research Reviews,and a member of the Scientific Advisory Board of Arrakis Therapeutics. At Duke University,Hargrove directs an interdisciplinary research program in chemical biology that focuses on harnessing the specific interactions between small molecules and RNA,and using those RNA-small molecule interactions to probe the structure,and function of RNA. The long-term goal of the group's research is to identify specific molecule-RNA interactions that may have therapeutic potential in the treatment of viral infection and human disease.
