Rose Gold is the debut studio album by South African singer-songwriter Shekhinah. It was released by Sony Music Entertainment Africa on October 6, 2017. [1] [2] [3] [4] Rose Gold was certified gold by the Recording Industry of South Africa on January 24, 2018 and later certified platinum on August 31, 2018. [5] [6] [7] [8] [9] The album features guest appearances from South African rapper, Rouge, Asali and Jamali band member, Mariechan. Production is handled by David Scott, DJ Maphorisa, Mae N. Maejor, Shekhinah and Luke Goliath.

Singles

The album's promotional single, "Suited" was released on 19 July 2017. Produced by South African record producer and recording artist DJ Maphorisa, the song was certified Platinum by RiSA on 24 January 2018. Shekhinah speaking on the song:

I would love to ease my audience into my new album, I don’t want to stretch too far from my usual sound. I used bongo drums in the track which I know my fans will relate to and instantly recognise. When I was working on the track I imagined it fitting snuggly into people’s intimate spaces. I could hear the song playing in many kitchens on a sunny afternoon as lovers prepare their favourite meal. I could see soul mates gleaming with joy as they remembered what they were doing the first time they heard it and how they felt. [23]

The music video for the single was released on Shekhinah's Vevo account on 17 August 2017. It was directed by Nate Thomas and has garnered over 3.2 million views on YouTube. [24]

The second single "Please Mr." was released on 9 February 2018. Sony Music later announced on 29 March that the song was certified Gold. [25] [26] [27]

Zonke Dikana, known simply as Zonke, is a South African singer-songwriter and record producer. Her rise to stardom came in 2011 following the release of her third album, Ina Ethe, which was certified double platinum and was nominated at the 18th South African Music Awards. In 2013, she recorded and released Give and Take Live, which was certified gold just two months after its release and earned her a place in the Channel O list of "Africa's Top 10 Female Singing Sensations". In September 2015, Zonke released Work of Heart, her fifth album, to critical acclaim with nominations in several categories at the 15th Metro FM Music Awards and 22nd South African Music Awards. Themba Sekowe, known professionally as DJ Maphorisa, is a South African DJ, record producer, singer, and songwriter. As a record producer with a blend of house music, amapiano and afropop, he has worked with and has received production credits from several notable artists, including Wizkid, Sizwe Alakine, Kwesta, Uhuru, Drake, Black Coffee, Major Lazer, Runtown, C4 Pedro, TRESOR, Kabza De Small, Era Istrefi, Mpura, Young Stunna and Killer Kau. Shekhinah Thandi Donnell, known mononymously as Shekhinah, is a singer-songwriter from Pietermaritzburg, South Africa. Shekhinah was among the Top 32 of M-Net's Season 7 of SA Idols in 2011 and among the Top 6 of Season 8 of SA Idols in 2012.

Jabulani Hadebe, known professionally as Sjava, is a South African singer, rapper, and actor. He began his acting career in 2005, starring in several drama series and films including uGugu no Andile (2009). He then rose to prominence on the drama series Zone 14, where he starred for three consecutive seasons, Isibaya and the second season of Ehostela. Sjava ventured into the music industry and signed to record label Ambitiouz Entertainment. He gained mainstream popularity after he was featured on Miss Pru's acclaimed song "Ameni" in 2015.

<i>Touch My Blood</i> 2018 studio album by AKA

Touch My Blood is the third album released by South African rapper AKA. released on 15 June 2018 through Beam Group in partnership with NYCE Entertainment. It is his first independent release and is the follow-up to his sophomore album, Levels. It features guest appearances from fellow South African artists including L-Tido, JR, Yanga Chief, Stogie T, Kwesta & Okmalumkoolkat, as well as a sole international appearance by Nigerian artist and producer Kiddominant. Production is handled by AKA, Master A Flat, Tweezy, Tazzy, Kiddominant, Anatii, Gemini Major, DJ Maphorisa, Makwa, Buks and additional production by Julian McGuire. Touch My Blood was certified Gold by the Recording Industry of South Africa (RiSA) on 25 June 2018, just one week into its release. On 9 November 2018, the album was certified platinum by RiSA four months after its release.

South African hip hop artist and record producer AKA has released four studio albums, two collaborative albums with Anatii as well as Costa Titch respectively, one extended play (EP), 42 singles and 23 music videos. Yamikani Janet Banda, professionally known under the alias of Lady Zamar, is a South African singer and songwriter.

Kabelo Petrus Motha is a South African DJ and record producer, popularly known as Kabza De Small. He is a major figure in the amapiano genre of house music. Aside from his solo career, Motha is a member of the Scorpion Kings. Motha gained international recognition after the release of "Umshove", in 2018.
