Rosemary Brown is a Republican member of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives. [2] Brown was first elected to the 189th Legislative District of Pennsylvania in November 2010. [3] [3] She was sworn into her first term on January 4, 2011.

Biography

Brown has resided in the Poconos for 37 years and is a member of St. John's Parish, which is located in East Stroudsburg. [3] Brown graduated from East Stroudsburg High School and holds a bachelor's degree in Communications from the University of Scranton. [3]

The Pocono Mountains, commonly referred to as The Poconos, are a geographical, geological, and cultural region in Northeastern Pennsylvania, United States. The Poconos are an upland of the larger Allegheny Plateau. Forming a 2,400-square-mile (6,200 km2) escarpment overlooking the Delaware River and Delaware Water Gap to the east, the mountains are bordered on the north by Lake Wallenpaupack, on the west by the Wyoming Valley and the Coal Region, and to the south by the Lehigh Valley. The name comes from the Munsee word Pokawachne, which means "Creek Between Two Hills." Much of the Poconos region lies within the Greater New York-Newark, NY-NJ-CT-PA Combined Statistical Area. The wooded hills and valleys have long been a popular recreation area, accessible within a two-hour drive to millions of metropolitan area residents, with many communities having resort hotels with fishing, hunting, skiing, and other sports facilities.

East Stroudsburg is a borough in Monroe County, Pennsylvania, United States. It is located in the Poconos region of the state. Originally known as "Dansbury," East Stroudsburg was renamed for geographic reasons when the Delaware, Lackawanna, and Western Railroad opened a station in town. It lies east of Stroudsburg and is more populous than that town. East Stroudsburg is the largest municipality in Monroe County and in the East Stroudsburg, PA Metropolitan Statistical Area as designated by the Office of Management and Budget based on data from the 2010 US Census.

East Stroudsburg Senior High School South is a public high school located at 279 North Courtland Street in East Stroudsburg, in Monroe County, Pennsylvania. The school's mascot is the cavalier. The school is part of the East Stroudsburg Area School District. The school's total enrollment is 1501 students. Overall, the student to teacher ration is 1 teacher to 13.0 students, as opposed to the state average of 1 to 15. The student body is 62.9% White, 17.6% African American, 17.1% Hispanic or Latino of any race, 2.3% Asian American, and less than 1% Native American. The administration reports that 39.2% of the student body is currently eligible for reduced or free lunch due to family poverty.

Brown currently resides in Middle Smithfield Township with her husband Joe and their three children. [2]

Prior to becoming a legislator, Brown worked as an assistant buyer for Macy's, and as an executive sales manager for Macy’s, Saks Fifth Avenue, and The Bon-Ton stores. [3] Brown then began working in pharmaceutical sales for Hoffmann-La Roche and Vistakon, which is a branch of Johnson & Johnson. [3]

Saks Fifth Avenue is an American chain of luxury department stores owned, since 2013, by the oldest commercial corporation in North America, the Hudson's Bay Company. Its main flagship store is located on Fifth Avenue in Midtown Manhattan, New York City.

Bon-Ton Holdings Inc. is an American online retailer and former department store chain founded in 1898. After rapid expansion in the 1990s and early 2000s, the original company had financial troubles, ultimately filing for bankruptcy in 2018 before being sold and liquidated. In September 2018, its new owner began operating as an online retailer headquartered in Merrillville, Indiana, with plans to open brick and mortar locations. Other brands operated by The Bon-Ton are Bergner's, Boston Store, Carson's, Elder-Beerman, Herberger's, and Younkers.

The 2019-20 legislative session marks her fifth term representing the people of the 189th District in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives. She was first elected to represent the district on Nov. 2, 2010.

During the current session, Rosemary is serving her first term as a deputy whip for the House Republican Caucus. Additionally, she serves as a member of the House Appropriations, Education, Professional Licensure and Transportation committees. [4]
