2014 school shooting

On January 14, 2014, at about 8:10 am, a student opened fire inside the gymnasium of Berrendo Middle School. The suspect then surrendered to a staff member and was taken into police custody. A 12-year-old [5] student and a 13-year-old student were both airlifted to a hospital in Lubbock, Texas, in critical condition. The suspected shooter was a seventh-grade 12-year-old student at the school named Mason Campbell, who used a shotgun that was smuggled into the school inside a duffle bag. [6] Campbell faced three counts of aggravated battery with a firearm, and potential confinement in a juvenile detention facility until 21 years of age. [7] [8] [9] In 2015, Campbell received the maximum sentence. [10]

The Roswell Independent School District has twenty-one schools, including twelve elementary schools, three middle schools, four high schools, a preschool. Early College High School and University High School are alternative schools. In addition, Sidney Gutierrez Middle Schools, a K–8 charter school, is chartered with the Roswell Independent School District.

The Cleveland Elementary School shooting was a school shooting that took place on January 29, 1979, at Grover Cleveland Elementary School in San Diego, California, United States. The principal and a custodian were killed; eight children and police officer Robert Robb were injured. A 16-year-old girl, Brenda Spencer, who lived in a house across the street from the school, was convicted of the shootings. Charged as an adult, she pleaded guilty to two counts of murder and assault with a deadly weapon, resulting in her being sentenced to life in prison with a chance of parole after 25 years. As of 2025, she is still in prison.

The Westside Middle School shooting was a mass shooting that occurred on March 24, 1998, at Westside Middle School in unincorporated Craighead County, Arkansas near the city of Jonesboro. 13-year-old Mitchell Johnson and 11-year-old Andrew Golden opened fire on the school, shooting and killing five people with multiple weapons, and both were arrested when they attempted to flee the scene. Ten others were wounded. Golden and Johnson were convicted of five murders and ten assaults, and were imprisoned until each turned 21 years of age. After the 1992 Lindhurst High School shooting that killed four people in Olivehurst, California, the massacre was the deadliest non-college school shooting in contemporary U.S. history until the April 1999 Columbine High School massacre. As of 2025, the incident is the deadliest mass shooting at a middle school in U.S. history.

On the morning of February 27, 2012, six students were shot at Chardon High School in Chardon, Ohio, resulting in the deaths of three of them. Witnesses said that the shooter had a personal rivalry with one of his victims. Two other wounded students were also hospitalized, one of whom sustained several serious injuries that have resulted in permanent paralysis. The fifth student suffered a minor injury, and the sixth a superficial wound.

Italy High School is a public high school located in the city of Italy, Texas, in Ellis County, United States and classified as a 2A school by the UIL. It is a part of the Italy Independent School District located in southwest Ellis County. In 2013, the school was rated "Met Standard" by the Texas Education Agency.

On May 18, 2018, a school shooting occurred at Santa Fe High School in Santa Fe, Texas, United States, in the Houston metropolitan area. Ten people – eight students and two teachers – were fatally shot, and thirteen others were wounded. Dimitrios Pagourtzis, a 17-year-old student at the school, was taken into custody. The shooting is the eighth-deadliest school shooting in the United States.

On May 7, 2019, a school shooting occurred at STEM School Highlands Ranch, a charter school located in Douglas County, Colorado, United States, in the Denver suburb of Highlands Ranch. One student, Kendrick Castillo, was killed and eight others were injured. Sixteen-year-old Alec McKinney and eighteen-year-old Devon Erickson were convicted on dozens of charges and sentenced to life imprisonment.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Oxford High School shooting</span> Mass shooting in Oxford Township, Michigan, US

On November 30, 2021, a mass shooting occurred at Oxford High School in the Detroit exurb of Oxford Township, Michigan, United States. Ethan Robert Crumbley, age 15, and armed with a 9mm semi-automatic handgun, killed four students and injured seven people, including a teacher. Authorities arrested and charged Crumbley as an adult for 24 crimes, including murder and terrorism. Crumbley pleaded guilty to all of the charges in October 2022 and was sentenced in December 2023 to life imprisonment without the possibility of parole, plus an additional 24 years.

South Education Center is a special education and alternative school in the 7400 block of South Penn Avenue in Richfield, Minnesota. It is part of Intermediate District 287. Eleven school districts from Minneapolis and environs send their students to the center. The population served is from pre-Kinder to 21 years of age. The school defines its upper-age limit as "Transition". In 2022 there were 200 students. In the early 2020s, the school served about 80% minority students. Federally, the school is classified as suburban.

Loving Municipal Schools (LMS) is a school district headquartered in Loving, New Mexico.
