"Running Through the Fire (Storm)" is a single by Anika Moa, a singer-songwriter from New Zealand. It is the lead single from her fourth studio album, Love in Motion .
Originally under the title of "Storm", [3] Moa wrote "Running Through the Fire" for her father on the day he died. [4] She later said, "I don't like that [inspiration], so I changed it...it's a love song." [5]
"Running Through the Fire" is an electropop-rock song, [6] and contains 1980s pop influences. [7] and makes use of the electric guitar. [8]
The song was released in March 2010. [7]
In album reviews, Jo Tindling of Amplifier and Scott Kara of The New Zealand Herald compared "Running Through the Fire (Storm)" to the work of Ladyhawke. [9] [10]
The song was a finalist for the 2010 APRA Silver Scroll, a peer-judged songwriting award, [11] but lost to The Naked and Famous' "Young Blood". [12] It is Moa's third song to be nominated for the award, with "Stolen Hill" and "Dreams in My Head" being the previous two. [13]
On the chart dated 12 April 2010, the song appeared on the New Zealand Singles Chart at number thirty-eight. It slipped out of the chart the following week. [14]
The music video for the single, funded by New Zealand On Air, [15] was directed by Tim van Dammen. [16] A one shot, it features Moa playing an electric guitar and singing with her backing band, then walking around a garden in the night. Rays of light stream from Moa as she walks.
Moa performed "Running Through the Fire" on Close Up on 5 April 2010, [3] the day that the album, Love in Motion , was released in New Zealand. [17] The following day she played the song on Breakfast , live from Mission Bay. [5] At the 2010 New Zealand Music Awards, held on 7 October 2010, Moa sang the song, accompanied by Julia Deans. [18]
Moa also performed the song on her Love in Motion tour in May and June 2010, [19] and The Datsuns covered the tune at the awards ceremony of the APRA Silver Scroll, for which the song was a finalist, on 8 September 2010. [20] Band Together, a benefit concert was held in North Hagley Park in response to the 2010 Canterbury earthquake on 23 October 2010, which Moa appeared at. Her performance of "Running Through the Fire" was recorded and included on the album Band Together: Concert For Canterbury . [21]

Love in Motion is the fourth studio album by New Zealand singer-songwriter Anika Moa. The album's underlying theme is love. Moa's civil partner, Azaria Universe, was her biggest influence when writing the album. With Love in Motion, Moa moved from the folk and country pop influences of In Swings the Tide to a pop rock sound. The album was released by EMI Records internationally on 12 March 2010, with releases in Moa's home country and Australia following on 5 April and 10 September, respectively. Moa toured Westfield malls the week of the album's release, and a concert tour followed in May and June 2010.

The 2010 New Zealand Music Awards was the 45th holding of the annual ceremony featuring awards for musical artists based in or originating from New Zealand. Finalists for the three technical awards were announced on 16 August 2010 with winners announced on 1 September, the date on which finalists for 16 'non-technical' categories were revealed. Five 'non-technical' awards were presented without a group of finalists being selected. The awards ceremony took place on 7 October 2010 at Vector Arena, Auckland. Hosted by television presenter Shannon Ryan and comedian Ben Hurley, the ceremony was broadcast on television channel C4. The Silver Scroll Award was presented to Dave Baxter of Avalanche City for the song "Love Love Love", and pop-rock band Hello Sailor were inducted into the New Zealand Music Hall of Fame.
The 2010 APRA Silver Scroll Awards were held on Wednesday 8 September 2010 at the Auckland Town Hall, celebrating excellence in New Zealand songwriting. The Silver Scroll Award was presented to Alisa Xayalith, Thom Powers and Aaron Short of The Naked and Famous for their song “Young Blood”, and classic rock group The Fourmyula were inducted into the New Zealand Music Hall of Fame. The evening also included a tribute to Pauly Fuemana of OMC, who had died in January 2010.

Lips is a New Zealand-based music group consisting of New Zealander singer and keyboardist Steph Brown, and American multi-instrumentalist/producer Fen Ikner, founded by Brown in 2010 in New York City. Lips is visually represented by the character of "Lips," a girl with giant lips for a head, who appears in their cover art and music videos. The band has released three EPs, one LP, and produced the 2016 soundtrack of the stage play Daffodils, which they performed in and served as music directors, as well as the OST for the 2019 film version of the play. The band’s song "Everything to Me" won them the 2012 Silver Scroll Award.
