Russell Butler (born 6 March 1968) is an Australian former diver, born in Melbourne, who competed in the 1988 Summer Olympics and in the 1996 Summer Olympics. [1]

He won his third bronze medal riding with Greg Henderson, Hayden Roulston and Matthew Randall at the 2002 Commonwealth Games. He was educated at Russell Street School. Lloyd Butler was an American rower, born in Sparks, Nevada, who competed at the 1948 Summer Olympics. He won the gold medal with the American team in the eights competition. Butler attended the University of California, Berkeley, graduating in 1950. While a member of their eight-oared crew, he won the 1949 IRA Regatta, and finished second to Washington in that race in both 1948 and 1950.

Lanee "Carrie" Butler-Beashel is an American windsurfer. She competed at four Olympics from 1992 to 2004. Her best position was fourth in 2000.

Gloria Russell was an American athlete. Competing in the javelin throw, she finished sixth at the 1932 Summer Olympics. Nationally she placed second in 1928, third in 1932 and fourth in 1929. In 1928–29 she was voted California Girls' State Athlete of the Year. Besides athletics Russell played softball for the J. J. Krieg women's team, which won the national title in 1938 and 1939. In 1929 she also won the national title in the baseball throw. Russell was severely injured in June 1931, when she was hit by a javelin.
