Career

Khanthan is a Chartered Accountant by qualification, senior executive in a consumer durable conglomerate by experience and a creative director by profession. He is the son of noted Harikatha exponent Thiruvidaimarudur Sambamoorthi Ganapaadigal Balakrishna Sastrigal and was introduced to the world of fine arts at a very young age and to the nuances of film making (from conception till delivering the reels to theater) through his brother, director & Actor T. S. B. K. Moulee.

Khanthan was introduced to humour through decades of association with friend and humourist, Shri Crazy Mohan and to basics of Visual Communication through cinematographer, P. C. Sreeram.

Khanthan directed a telefilm written by director Mouli titled Naan Ready Nee Readiya which was telecast in Star Vijay TV. He followed it up by writing and directing a serial for Sun TV produced by director Vasanth titled Charu-Latha which ran successfully for 40 weeks. The natural tale involving two lovely female kids was well received by the audience.

Mohan Rangachari known professionally as Crazy Mohan, was an Indian actor, comedian, screenwriter and playwright. An engineer by profession, Mohan started writing plays and established his own drama troupe called "Crazy Creations" in 1979. In addition to dramas and tele-serials, Mohan worked as a dialogue writer on a number of comedy films. Mohan had written over 30 plays, worked on over 40 films, having cameo roles in each film, and written 100 short stories. The Tamil Nadu state government in the year 2004, awarded him the Kalaimamani title for excellence in the field of arts and literature.

Jerry is a 2006 Indian Tamil-language romantic comedy film directed by S. B. Khanthan, produced by V. Vishwanathan, and written by Crazy Mohan. The film stars Jithan Ramesh as the titular character, while Shruthi Raj, Mumtaj, and Meera Vasudevan play the female lead. The music was composed by Ramesh Vinayakam with editing done by Krishnakumar. The film was released on 19 May 2006.

<i>Edhir Neechal</i> (1968 film) 1968 film by K. Balachander

Edhir Neechal is a 1968 Indian Tamil-language comedy drama film written and directed by K. Balachander. The film has an ensemble cast including Nagesh, Muthuraman, Sundarrajan, Srikanth, M. R. R. Vasu, Sowcar Janaki and Jayanthi. It is based on Balachander's play of the same name, itself inspired by Sombhu Mitra's play Kanchanranga. The film was released on 12 December 1968, and became a commercial success, with Balachander winning the Tamil Nadu State Film Award for Best Dialogue Writer. It was remade in Telugu as Sambarala Rambabu (1970) and in Hindi as Lakhon Me Ek (1971).

The series airs Saturday and Sunday at 9:00PM IST. It is directed by S.B. Khanthan. The series was re-telecasted in year 2020.
