SC Real Mississauga was a Canadian soccer club based in Mississauga, Ontario that played in the Canadian Soccer League.

History

The club joined the Canadian Soccer League in 2018 with a team in the First Division. [3] [4] The club was originally formed as an academy by Krum Bibishkov. [5] Bibishkov would also serve as the head coach for the 2018 season. [6] [7] Goalkeeper Senad Poračanin scored the opening goal in a 2–0 victory over Brantford Galaxy on September 7, 2018, on a penalty kick. [8] They finished their debut season in seventh place in the nine-team league, qualifying for the playoffs. [9] Their playoff run ended in the first round of the postseason. where they were eliminated by FC Vorkuta. [10] The club also provided free soccer workshops to students in Dufferin-Peel Catholic District School Board schools. [11]

Bibishkov would continue as the head coach for the 2019 season. [12] Mississauga would fail to secure a playoff berth after finishing ninth in the divisional standings. [6] In the following season, the COVID-19 pandemic delayed the commencement of the season and resulted in several teams opting out. [13] Initially, Mississauga was included in the delayed schedule but later the schedule was further delayed with the club not being included in the revised schedule. [13] [14] Mississauga failed to return to the league after the pandemic with the club founder Bibishkov also leaving and returning to Bulgaria. [15]

The 2017 Canadian Soccer League season was the 20th season under the Canadian Soccer League name. The season began on May 26, 2017, and concluded on September 30, 2017, with the CSL Championship final.

The 2017 Scarborough SC season was the third season in the club's participation in the Canadian Soccer League. They began the season on May 27, 2017 at home against York Region Shooters. The season concluded with Scarborough securing a postseason berth by finishing fourth in the standings. In the preliminary rounds of the playoffs they secured the necessary wins in order to make their first CSL Championship appearance. In the finals they were defeated by the York Region Shooters in a penalty shootout.

The 2018 Canadian Soccer League season was the 21st season under the Canadian Soccer League name. The season began on May 13, 2018, and concluded on October 13, 2018, with the CSL Championship final held at Centennial Park Stadium in Toronto, Ontario. FC Vorkuta won their first championship by defeating Scarborough SC in a penalty shootout. Vorkuta found further success in the Second Division by winning their first CSL double after defeating Halton United in the finals. Meanwhile FC Ukraine United claimed the First Division title.

The 2018 season was Scarborough SC's fourth season in the Canadian Soccer League. Their season official commenced on May 19, 2018, in an away match against FC Ukraine United. The season proved to be a successful one as Scarborough managed to compete in the top four and ultimately secured a playoff berth by finishing fourth in the First Division. In the postseason tournament Scarborough successfully defeated Hamilton City SC, and FC Ukraine in the earlier rounds in order to reach the CSL Championship final for the second straight season. Their opposition in the finals were FC Vorkuta, but ultimately were defeated in a penalty shootout.

The 2019 Canadian Soccer League season was the 22nd season under the Canadian Soccer League name. The season started on May 19, 2019, and concluded on October 26, 2019, with the CSL Championship final. Fixtures for the 2019 season were announced on April 30, 2019. The final consisted of Scarborough SC defeating FC Ukraine United at Centennial Park Stadium in Toronto, Ontario to claim their first championship title. The First Division title went to FC Vorkuta along with the Second Division title, and championship. The single new addition to the First Division was Kingsman SC, and the departures occurred in the Second Division with Halton United, London City, and Milton SC becoming founding members of the Canadian Academy of Soccer League (CASL).

The 2020 Canadian Soccer League season was the 23rd season under the Canadian Soccer League name. The season commenced on August 15, 2020, and concluded with the CSL Championship final on October 17, 2020. FC Vorkuta defeated the reigning champions Scarborough SC at Racco Park in Vaughan, Ontario, and secured their second championship. While Scarborough made their fourth consecutive appearance in the championship final and claimed their first divisional title.

The 2021 Canadian Soccer League season was the 24th season under the Canadian Soccer League name. The season officially commenced on August 28, 2021, and concluded with the CSL Championship final on November 7, 2021, at Centennial Park Stadium in Toronto, Ontario. The championship was contested between reigning champions FC Vorkuta, and Scarborough SC with Scarborough defeating Vorkuta for their second title. Vorkuta completed the season with a league double.
