Halton United are a Canadian soccer club based in Milton, Ontario, and is a member of the Canadian Academy of Soccer League. The club was formed in 2013 and became a member of the Canadian Soccer League (CSL) under the name Burlington SC. They played their home matches at Nelson Stadium in Burlington, Ontario. [1] After three seasons in the CSL the club disbanded their CSL senior team in order to become one of the founding members of the CAF Supergroup Open Division. After a brief sabbatical from the CSL, Burlington returned for the 2017 season to play in the Second Division.

In 2018, the club was renamed Halton United, and in 2019 became a founding member of the Canadian Academy of Soccer League (CASL).

Burlington SC was formed and joined the Canadian Soccer League on May 2, 2013. [2] [3] The announcement made history as Burlington SC became the city's first professional soccer club. [4] The club's inaugural head coach was William Etchu Tabi. [5] [6] Tabi constructed a roster mostly with international signings and a few domestic players. Notable acquisitions were Nicholas Lindsay, Judah Hernandez, Nikola Stanojevic, Obrad Dragosavac, Vladimir Vujasinović, Miroslav Bjelos, and Nenad Nikolić. [7] [8]

The team made its debut on May 19, 2013, in a match against Kingston FC, where Lindsay recorded the club's historic first goal in a 2–1 defeat. [9] Throughout the season Burlington struggled to maintain a postseason berth, thus failing to secure a playoff berth by finishing tenth in the overall standings. For the 2014 season the club signed more European imports by bringing in Vladimir Vujović, Nenad Simic, and Bojan Stepanović. Burlington improved from their previous season by finishing fifth in the overall standings. Their opponents in the quarterfinals were North York Astros, but they were eliminated from the playoffs by a score of 4–0. [10] At the conclusion of the season Vujasinovic was awarded the CSL Goalkeeper of the Year award. [11]

In 2015, the club for the second year in a row qualified for the playoffs by finishing sixth in the overall standings. In the first round of the postseason Burlington faced the York Region Shooters, but suffered a 4–2 defeat. [12] [13] At the CSL awards banquet Burlington went home with three awards: CSL Goalkeeper of the Year to Andrew Stinger, Stanojevic received the Defender of the Year, and the club received the Fair Play and Respect Award. In 2016, the league announced that Burlington were not returning for the 2016 season. [16] In 2016, Burlington became one of the founding member of the CAF LIKA Supergroup Open Division. [17] After a one-year absence from the CSL the team returned to the league for the 2017 season in order to compete in the Second Division. [18] [19] In 2018, the club was renamed Halton United, and for the second consecutive season reached the CSL Championship final but were defeated by FC Vorkuta B. [20] In 2019, Halton along with Comet FC, Galaxy SC, London City SC, Milton SC, and Star FC became charter members of the Canadian Academy of Soccer League (CASL). [21]

Brampton City United FC is a Canadian soccer team, founded in 2002. The team plays in the Lika Supergroup Open Division. The club plays out of Victoria Park Stadium in the community of Brampton, Ontario.

The 2011 Canadian Soccer League season was the 14th since its establishment where a total of 28 teams from Ontario and Quebec took part in the league. The season began on Saturday 6 May 2011, and concluded on 29 October 2011. Toronto Croatia won their fourth championship in a 1–0 victory over Capital City F.C. in the CSL Championship final at Centennial Park Stadium in Toronto. The regular season saw SC Toronto claim their second regular season title, while Mississauga Eagles FC B won their first Second Division championship. The season saw an increase in membership to 14 teams the largest number since the 2002 season. The new entries saw the return of professional soccer to the communities of Windsor, Mississauga, and Ottawa.

Kingston FC were a Canadian soccer team based in Kingston, Ontario, Canada. The team was awarded a franchise in 2011 as a member of the Canadian Soccer League, and participated in the league for three seasons, 2012 to 2014. In February 2015, Kingston FC formally announced that it had withdrawn from the Canadian Soccer League for the 2015 season. Furthermore, the Club announced that it had made application to the new League1 Ontario for a new professional team that will play in Belleville, Ontario.

SC Waterloo Region is a professional Canadian soccer team that plays in the Canadian Soccer League, a non-FIFA-sanctioned league. The club was formed in 2011 under the name KW United FC and competed in the Second Division of the CSL. The following year the organization's name was changed to SC Waterloo Region and was promoted to the First Division. Within a short time Waterloo enjoyed a string of success within the league. Their biggest achievement came in the 2013 season by winning the CSL Championship, and reaching the championship match finals once more in 2015 only to lose to Toronto Croatia. In 2016, the organization voluntarily relegated itself to the CSL Second Division.

The 2012 Canadian Soccer League season was the 15th since its establishment where a total of 28 teams from Ontario and Quebec took part in the league. The season began on 5 May 2012, and concluded on 27 October 2012. Toronto Croatia defended their championship in a 1–0 victory over the Montreal Impact Academy in the CSL Championship final at Centennial Park Stadium in Toronto. Montreal became the second Quebec club after Trois-Rivières Attak to reach the final, while Toronto added more silverware to their cabinet by winning the double during the regular season. In the Second Division SC Toronto B won their first Second Division championship, and TFC Academy II secured the regular season title.

The 2013 Canadian Soccer League season was the 16th since its establishment where a total of 21 teams from Ontario took part in the league. The season began on May 3, 2013, and concluded on November 3, 2013. SC Waterloo captured their first championship in a 3–1 victory over regular season champions Kingston FC in the CSL Championship final at Kalar Sports Park in Niagara Falls, Ontario. Waterloo became the first club to win both the First and Second Division championships in one season. While Toronto Croatia B won the second division regular season title.

The 2014 Canadian Soccer League season was the 17th since its establishment where a total of 20 teams from Ontario took part in the league. The season began on May 24, 2014, and concluded on October 26, 2014. York Region Shooters won their second championship in a 5–4 victory in a penalty shootout over Toronto Croatia in the CSL Championship final held at Esther Shiner Stadium in Toronto. York Region became the second club in the league's history to produce a perfect season, and championship after the Toronto Olympians in the 1999 season.

The 2017 Canadian Soccer League season was the 20th season under the Canadian Soccer League name. The season began on May 26, 2017, and concluded on September 30, 2017, with the CSL Championship final. The season saw the York Region Shooters claim their third CSL Championship by defeating Scarborough SC in a penalty shootout. In the Second Division, FC Ukraine United went home with their first CSL double after defeating Burlington SC in the finals. FC Ukraine became the second club in the Second Division after TFC Academy II in 2012 to go undefeated the entire regular season. While FC Vorkuta became the second expansion franchise in CSL history since the Ottawa Wizards in the 2001 season to claim the r title in their debut season.

FC Vorkuta won their first championship by defeating Scarborough SC in a penalty shootout. Vorkuta found further success in the Second Division by winning their first CSL double after defeating Halton United in the finals. Meanwhile FC Ukraine United claimed the First Division title.

The 2018 season was FC Vorkuta's second season in the Canadian Soccer League. The club ended their CSL campaign with a club record by securing their first professional championship title in the First Division, and the double in the Second Division. The club qualified for the playoffs for the second consecutive season after finishing second in the First Division. In the postseason Vorkuta defeated the likes of Real Mississauga, and SC Waterloo Region in order to reach the championship final. Their opposition in the finals were Scarborough SC, where Vorkuta claimed their first CSL Championship after a victory in a penalty shootout.

The 2018 season was the twenty second season in the club's participation in the Canadian Soccer League. Their season began on May 25, 2018 in a home match against FC Vorkuta, which resulted in a 1-1 draw. Before the commencement of the outdoor season the White Eagles became a founding member in the Arena Premier League as an indoor team. Throughout the regular CSL season the Serbs struggled to compete for a top four position as their performance declined in the later stages. The club still managed to secure a postseason berth, but saw an early departure after a defeat to SC Waterloo Region in the opening round. The club's top goalscorer was Luka Bojić with five goals.

The 2018 season was Scarborough SC's fourth season in the Canadian Soccer League. Their season official commenced on May 19, 2018 in an away match against FC Ukraine United. The season proved to be a successful one as Scarborough managed to compete in the top four and ultimately secured a playoff berth by finishing fourth in the First Division. In the postseason tournament Scarborough successfully defeated Hamilton City SC, and FC Ukraine in the earlier rounds in order to reach the CSL Championship final for the second straight season. Their opposition in the finals were FC Vorkuta, but ultimately were defeated in a penalty shootout.

The 2018 season was Brantford Galaxy's seventh season in the Canadian Soccer League. Their season began on May 25, 2018 in an away match against CSC Mississauga. Despite the team's mediocre season they still clinched the final playoff berth. Their participation in the postseason was short lived as they were eliminated by FC Ukraine United in the first round. While their reserve squad faced a similar fate in the Second Division after losing to FC Vorkuta B in the opening round. The club's top goalscorer was Slavko Knezevic with three goals.

The 2019 Canadian Soccer League season was the 22nd season under the Canadian Soccer League name. The season started on May 19, 2019, and concluded on October 26, 2019, with the CSL Championship final. Fixtures for the 2019 season were announced on April 30, 2019. The final consisted of Scarborough SC defeating FC Ukraine United at Centennial Park Stadium in Toronto, Ontario to claim their first championship title. The First Division title went to FC Vorkuta along with the Second Division title, and championship. The single new addition to the First Division was Kingsman SC, and the departures occurred in the Second Division with Halton United, London City, and Milton SC becoming founding members of the Canadian Academy of Soccer League (CASL).
