Sports Club Villa is a professional football club based in Kampala, Uganda, that competes in the Uganda Premier League. [1]

Overview

Sports Club Villa had humble beginnings in 1975, playing under the name Nakivubo Boys. The club was renamed Nakivubo Villa in 1981 and is a professional football club based in Kampala, Uganda, that competes in the Uganda Premier League.

SC Villa had won promotion to the topflight of Ugandan football in 1979 and has won 17 Uganda Super League Titles, 9 Ugandan Cup Titles and 3 CECAFA Clubs Cup Titles. Today there is no single local or regional trophy on which SC Villa's name is not inscribed, thus the most successful club in Ugandan football history. The club trains at East High Grounds in Kisaasi, Kampala.

Hamz Stadium, formerly referred to as Nakivubo Stadium at Nakivubo War Memorial Grounds, is a multi-purpose stadium in Kampala, Uganda. Following extensive renovations led by businessman Hamis Kiggundu in partnership with the Ugandan government, the stadium has been upgraded to international standards. It is slated to host significant events like AFCON2027 and CHAN 2024. which will mark a new chapter in Uganda's sporting and community landscape. It was previously used mostly for football matches and served as the home venue of SC Villa. In the 2024/2025 season, two Uganda premier league clubs URA FC and Express FC used Hamz stadium as their home ground.The stadium had a capacity of about 21,000 people, but upon partial completion of the renovations started in 2017, President Museveni commissioned the stadium on 25 April 2024. It will have a total seating capacity of 15,000 people upon final completion.

Daniel Nkata was the first Ugandan FIFA association football referee in 1960, writer, archivist. He was among the first Ugandans to play golf after the late Sir Daudi Chwa. He also served as secretary of Uganda Football Association which is nowadays known as FUFA. Nkata was the first indigenous Ugandan to gain formal membership of a golf club. He was secretary of the Uganda Golf Union in 1980.

The 1992 CAF Cup Final was the inaugural final of the CAF Cup, a two-legged tie to determine the first winner of the Moshood Abiola trophy. The final pitted Shooting Stars of Ibadan from Nigeria against Nakivubo Villa from Uganda. The first leg took place in Kampala, Uganda on 14 November at Nakivubo Stadium, while the second leg was held in Ibadan, Nigeria on 28 November at Liberty Stadium.

George Mukasa also known as George Wagaba Mukasa is a retired Ugandan association football coach and also a retired association football player. He coached the Uganda Cranes between 1984 -1985. and also Sc Villa from 1982 to 1985. He was a goalkeeper for association football clubs that include: KCCA FC, SC Villa, Express FC, Coffee United SC. He retired from association football in 1978.

Moses Basena is a Ugandan football coach who has managed the Uganda national team and several other clubs in Uganda and other countries in East Africa.
