Protein transport protein Sec24D is a protein that in humans is encoded by the SEC24D gene. [5] [6] [7]

The protein encoded by this gene is a member of the SEC24 subfamily of the SEC23/SEC24 family, which is involved in vesicle trafficking. The encoded protein has similarity to yeast Sec24p component of COPII. COPII is the coat protein complex responsible for vesicle budding from the ER. The role of this gene product is implicated in the shaping of the vesicle, and also in cargo selection and concentration. [7]

SEC24 family, member A is a protein that in humans is encoded by the SEC24A gene. The protein belongs to a protein family that are homologous to yeast Sec24. It is a component of coat protein II (COPII)-coated vesicles that mediate protein transport from the endoplasmic reticulum.

SEC31 is a protein which in yeast promotes the formation of COPII transport vesicles from the Endoplasmic Reticulum (ER). The coat has two main functions, the physical deformation of the endoplasmic reticulum membrane into vesicles and the selection of cargo molecules.
