Bryan Charles "SL" Jones, [2] also known as Cuz Lightyear, is an American rapper and songwriter.
Jones was born in Flint, Michigan, and shortly after moved with his family to Little Rock, Arkansas, where he was raised in a neighborhood known as 23rd & Wolfe Street. [2] [3] He described his neighborhood as being in a gang-heavy part of the city, a collection of smaller Crip and Blood affiliated neighborhoods. He regularly raps about and references his hometown and neighborhood, with the number 23, taken from the street's name, serving as a recurring theme in his music. [4] While growing up, Jones spent a brief time back in Flint, where he was pursuing studies in visual arts, [5] before ultimately moving to Atlanta to pursue a career in music. Upon beginning his career in music, the name SL Jones was selected with SL representing the words "Second Letter", [2] as in the letter B (for Bryan), the second letter of the alphabet.
Jones first gained awareness when he began working with Killer Mike, Pill, Nario, Big Slimm, Da Bill Collector, and others as a part of Grind Time Official, also referred to as Grind Time Rap Gang. [6] While working closely with Grind Time, SL Jones appeared on a number of mixtapes and official retail albums, including I Pledge Allegiance To The Grind and Underground Atlanta .
In 2009, SL Jones released his first solo mixtape C.O.L.O.R.S.: Bangin' On Wax. [4] The mixtape included features from Killer Mike, Trae Tha Truth, Clipse, Chamillionaire, and more. Upon release, the project earned SL Jones accolades from a variety of press outlets, including Complex Magazine, which named SL Jones as one of The 10 Most Underrated New Rappers, writing: "With an analytical Mind and lyrical dexterity to go with impeccable flows and harmonies, [SL Jones] brings a complexity that's rare for both Southern and gang-affiliated rap." [7]
In 2011, SL Jones released four projects. On May 23, SL Jones released the Don Cannon-hosted mixtape The Number 23, [8] a project which included features from Killer Mike, Pill, Trae Tha Truth, Waka Flocka Flame, and Yo Gotti, along with production from various producers, most notably: Lex Luger, Shawty Redd, Don Cannon, and Smiff & Cash. The mixtape received positive feedback, with XXL Magazine awarding the project an L-rated review, [9] while Atlanta's leading alternative weekly, Creative Loafing gave the project a 4/5. [10]
On August 23, 2011, The Number 23 was re-released in a slimmed down, non-DJ format titled The Number 23: Editor's Cut. [11] This version, with a total of 16 songs, included two new tracks: "Out Here", which features Rocko and JBar, and "Michael Jordan", produced by Lex Luger.
On September 14, 2011, SL Jones released Pandamonium, [12] a project that remixed Clams Casino's Rainforest EP. The project contained five tracks.
On December 14, 2011, SL Jones released a mixtape, Flight Risk. [13] The 10-track project included production by several producers, including Sonny Digital, Young L, Lex Luger, and Shawty Redd. XXL writes, "...the tape is another dosage of quality material from SL. Streets approved, no questions." [14]
In 2012, SL Jones announced his intention to release a series of EP projects; instead he began working to complete a 12-track mixtape with Atlanta producer DJ Burn One for the first five months of the year. [15] In February 2012, SL Jones announced the collaborative project, titled Paraphernalia. In concert with the announcement, SL Jones released “Wave Runner,” a song produced by DJ Burn One that ultimately was not included on the mixtape. [16] On May 23, SL Jones released Paraphernalia, which includes features from rappers Freddie Gibbs and Rittz and singer Ebony Love. [17]
Critical response to Paraphernalia was positive. Complex Magazine hailed the mixtape as "an expertly crafted piece of Southern-fried hip-hop." [15] FADER Magazine wrote, "Paraphernalia boasts variety, songcraft and attention to detail, a tough trifecta to find." [18] RCRD LBL wrote, "Paraphernalia is like spending the day at a barbecue. There's soulful lyricism and the sort of stoned throwback organic funk at which Burn One excels." [19] The Smoking Section wrote, "My best advice is not to sleep on Paraphernalia." [20]
In 2013, SL Jones announced a new EP, Trapper's Delight, produced by M16. [21] The EP included seven songs and earned strong marks from outlets like Complex, XXL, and others. [22] In April, SL Jones went out on his first headline tour, "The Way Of Life No Hobby Tour", to support Trapper's Delight and prepare for his new mixtape. [23] The nine-city tour made stops in states including Louisiana, Texas, Oklahoma, and Arkansas.
In August 2013, SL Jones announced a new mixtape, Way Of Life No Hobby, hosted by popular mixtape DJ and record executive Don Cannon. The mixtape was preceded by three singles, "Big Bank (No Ones)", [24] "America's Nightmare", [25] and "Don't Want Nan". [26] Like Trapper's Delight and Paraphernalia, SL Jones collaborated exclusively with one producer, Metro Boomin, for Way Of Life No Hobby. The mixtape was released on September 4, 2013, via popular mixtape website LiveMixtapes and includes features from Killer Mike, Kevin Gates, Starlito, Trouble, Mibbs of the rap group Pac Div, and others. Joseph Guillermo Jones II, better known by his stage name Jim Jones, is an American rapper, record producer and record executive. He is a founding member of the hip hop collective the Diplomats, which he formed in 1997 with fellow Harlem native Cam'ron.
D'Juan Montrel Hart, better known by his stage name Young Dro, is an American rapper. Best known for his association with fellow Atlanta-based rapper T.I., Dro signed with his label, Grand Hustle Records, an imprint of Atlantic Records in 2004. His debut studio album, Best Thang Smokin' (2006), peaked at number three on the Billboard 200 and was led by the single "Shoulder Lean", which peaked within the top ten of the Billboard Hot 100. After several mixtapes, he released his second album High Times (2013), in a joint venture with Grand Hustle and independent distributor Entertainment One Music; its lead single, "FDB", peaked at number two on the Bubbling Under Hot 100 chart.
Asher Paul Roth is an American rapper from Morrisville, Pennsylvania. He is best known for his 2009 debut single "I Love College," which peaked at number 12 on the Billboard Hot 100 and foresaw the birth of frat rap, a college-oriented subgenre of hip hop.
Fredrick Jamel Tipton, better known by his stage name Freddie Gibbs, is an American rapper and songwriter. He signed with Interscope Records in 2006 and recorded his debut album for the label; however, its release was cancelled and he was dropped from the label due to executive shakeups. Gibbs later signed with Young Jeezy's CTE World in 2011 and released a number of mixtapes through the label, including his highly acclaimed Baby Face Killa (2012).

Michael Wayne Atha, better known by his stage name Yelawolf, is an American rapper. Born in Gadsden, Alabama, and raised in Antioch, Tennessee, he embarked on his recording career in 2005, releasing four mixtapes to positive local reception. His fourth mixtape, Trunk Muzik (2010), earned him wider recognition and led him to sign a recording contract with Interscope Records. He re-worked the mixtape into his first major label release, Trunk Muzik 0-60 (2010).
Justin Lewis Scott, better known by his stage name Big K.R.I.T., is an American rapper and record producer. Born in Meridian, Mississippi, he began his musical career in 2005. He was signed to Def Jam Recordings by Sha Money XL in 2010, and first gained recognition following the release of his single "Country Shit" in September of that year. The following year, he guest appeared on T.I.'s promotional single "I'm Flexin'", which became Scott's first entry on the Billboard Hot 100.
Jeffery Lee Johnson Jr., better known by his stage name Roscoe Dash, is an American rapper. He is best known for his guest appearance alongside Wale on Waka Flocka Flame's 2010 single "No Hands," which peaked at number 13 on the Billboard Hot 100 and received diamond certification by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). He signed with Zone 4, Geffen, and Interscope Records to release his debut single, "All the Way Turnt Up", in January of that year, which peaked within the top 50 of the chart and preceded his debut studio album, Ready Set Go! (2010). Due to erroneous circumstances regarding its release, it failed to chart and was admitted by Roscoe Dash himself to be unfinished.
Glory is the debut extended play (EP) by Australian rapper Iggy Azalea, released as a free digital download on 30 July 2012, by Grand Hustle Records. The EP serves as her first project with T.I.'s label since the announcement of her signing back in March 2012. The EP features guest appearances from T.I., who also serves as the project's executive producer, along with fellow rappers B.o.B and Pusha T, as well as singer-songwriter Mike Posner. The EP's production was handled by Bei Maejor, Lil' C, Mike Posner and more.

In December 2012, he signed with Def Jam Recordings to release his debut single, "All Gold Everything" commercially that same month. The song peaked within the top 40 of the Billboard Hot 100, received platinum certification by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), and spawned a remix featuring fellow Georgia-based rappers T.I., Jeezy and 2 Chainz. He was dropped from the label in 2014 after failing to promptly record a debut album.

Webster has released many mixtapes such as the DJ Drama-hosted Bars On Me (2012) and his EP There Goes the Neighborhood (2011), which peaked at number 101 on the Billboard 200. He has worked with various artists such as Freeway, Mac Miller, Joell Ortiz, Big K.R.I.T., Method Man, Apathy, Prodigy, Bun B, Tech N9ne, Jarren Benton and Kid Ink. In 2013 he and his label, Homegrown Music, signed a deal with E1 Music. He then released Homegrown, another EP, in November 2012. Webster released his debut studio album Chemically Imbalanced on October 27, 2014.

Recognized for his deep voice and laid-back delivery of vivid stories, he often explores themes of drug trade and street life. After his debut album My 1st Chemistry Set (2013), James has since released 14 studio albums along with several mixtapes and EPs.
Michael Santiago Render, better known by his stage name Killer Mike, is an American rapper and activist. He made his recording debut on Outkast's fourth album Stankonia (2000), and guest appeared on the duo's Grammy Award-winning single "The Whole World" from their greatest hits album Big Boi and Dre Present... Outkast (2001). He signed with Big Boi's Purple Ribbon Records and Columbia Records to release his debut studio album Monster (2003), which was met with critical acclaim and peaked at number ten on the Billboard 200.
