Sainagar is a large suburb with more than 5% of the population of the city of Panvel where more than 300,000 people live. It is close to the proposed Navi Mumbai International Airport, there is also an international exhibition center and an engineering college. Several developments are currently taking place and Panvel is located at 18.98° N 73.1° E[1]. It has an average elevation of 28 metres (91 feet). It is near to the Gadhi river.

The new Navi Mumbai International airport, which is to be built in the Kopra-Panvel area would be built through public-private partnership (PPP) — with private sector partner getting 74% equity while Airports Authority of India (AAI) and Maharashtra government (through City and Industrial Development Corporation or CIDCO) holding 13% each. The International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) has already given techno-feasibility clearance to the Navi Mumbai airport and central cabinet has cleared it.
There are two large markets in the suburb and they provide mainly vegetables, medicines and household items. Nearby villages include Karjat, Karnala, Prabalgad and Ballaleshwar. Nearby landmarks include Elephanta Caves.
Panvel railway station comes under Mumbai Division of Central Railway. The station is divided into two parts for suburban and main lines. The main line station is located at Chainage 68/5 from Mumbai CST, while the suburban station is at 48/9. Both share the same building complex and staff members. The suburban complex currently[ when? ] has two operational platforms and two more are being constructed. The main line station has three operational platforms, and two more are being constructed.
The station handles more than 30 freight trains, 5 daily commuter passenger trains and 5 daily express trains stop here. In addition to this, 9 non-daily trains also stop at this station. Panvel is a very major station and is considered equivalent to Mumbai for trains which skip Mumbai. The trains run on Diesel Traction, and Panvel is a refueling point for their locomotives.
In addition to refueling, Panvel has a huge number of cargo, and most trains stop for periods varying from 5 minutes to 20 minutes to load and unload cargo. Panvel also handles crew change for freight trains. There are 4 ticket counters and 3 reservation counters. A state transport bus station is about 500 metres away from the train station. Buses run by Local Municipal Transport (NMMT) and rickshaws are available to rent. A new suburban railway station building is under construction, and no facilities are available for their passengers. The next nearest ones are Khandeshwar Manasarovar, Kharghar and Belapur.

It is the first suburban rail network in India.
Navi Mumbai, is a planned city situated on the west coast of the Indian subcontinent, the Largest planned city in the world, lies in Konkan division of Maharashtra state, on the mainland of India. The city is divided into two, North Navi Mumbai and South Navi Mumbai, for the individual development of Panvel Mega City, which includes the area from Kharghar to Uran, including Taloja and Old Panvel nodes strictly in the city of Navi Mumbai. New Panvel is a residential, commercial and educational node of Navi Mumbai, Maharashtra and comes under the Konkan division. New Panvel was developed on marshy land and was previously a Mango cultivated area. New Panvel is divided into two parts: New Panvel (E), on the eastern side of Panvel railway station and Khanda Colony or New Panvel (W) on the western side of it. Both parts of New Panvel are connected by a flyover bridge also known as Khanda Colony Flyover. New Panvel (W) is also popularly called Khanda Colony by the local villagers, as the city is adjacent to two small villages Dhakta Khanda and Motha Khanda.

The area has developed rapidly in recent years compared to any other nodes in Navi Mumbai due to its strategic location, having Vashi, Mumbai & Thane towards its north and Ulwe, Uran, JNPT & upcoming international airport towards is south and CBD Belapur, Kharghar & Panvel towards its east. The station is located adjacent to Sector 40 & 42, few kilometers away from Seawoods NRI complex.
Juinagar is an area in Navi Mumbai of Maharashtra state in Konkan division. It is also the name of a railway station on the Harbour Line of the Mumbai Suburban Railway. Railway colony is the biggest colony in Juinagar though much of the residential blocks belong to the CIDCO and a few other private housing societies. The main market is near Sadguru Hotel and Suyog Arcade - which is the most prominent complex in the area. On the whole, Juinagar is a small but self-sufficient township having excellent connectivity to Vashi and Nerul. Of late, the sprawling of a multi-facility hospital named Mangal Prabhu and a new petrol pump at the main market has made life more convenient for the dwellers.

Kalyan Airstrip is an abandoned World War II airstrip at Nevali 6 km south of Kalyan railway station and 55 km north of Mumbai airport, India. The airfield served RAF Kalyan and was abandoned after the war. It is owned by the Ministry of Defence but has been encroached upon. In 2006, the site was proposed as a candidate for the second airport for the Mumbai Metropolitan Region. However, this proposal was abandoned in February 2014 as the Maharashtra government dropped the idea of examining alternative sites, having secured all necessary approvals for the Navi Mumbai International Airport at Panvel.

The Vasai Road–Roha line of the Mumbai Suburban Railway is a public transit system. It connects Northern suburbs of Mumbai with Navi Mumbai and Roha on Konkan Railway. The Vasai Road–Roha line connects the Western line station of Vasai Road with the Central line station of Roha which last station before Konkan Railway starts. It intersects the main line of the Central line at Diva. The MEMUs operate between Dahanu Road and Panvel/Roha. It consists of 23 stations from Vasai Road railway station in north to Roha in south.
