Sajin Gopu is an Indian film actor who works in Malayalam cinema. Hailing from Aluva, he made his acting debut in the 2015 film Mumbai Taxi in a minor role. [1] Gopu first made his breakthrough with Churuli in 2021, and later that year with Jan.E.Man as well as the sleeper hit Romancham in 2023. [2]

Early life

Sajin Gopu was born in Aluva as the eldest son of Gopalakrishnan and Pramila. He completed his high school education at the SNDP school and higher secondary education from Aluva Boys higher secondary school. Gopu completed college at the De Paul Institute of Science & Technology in Angamaly. [3]

Career

Gopu made his big screen debut in 2015 with Mumbai Taxi where he played a minor role. [4] He then played minor roles in the films Thilothama and Marubhoomiyile Aana . Gopu's role of the jeep driver in Lijo Jose Pellissery's Churuli in 2021 became a turning point in his career. [5] The same year he played the character of Saji Vypin in Jan.E.Man , where his performance was acclaimed. [6] In 2023, he starred in one of the lead roles in the horror-comedy Romancham and his character Niroop was well received by young audiences. [7]

<i>Ee.Ma.Yau.</i> 2018 Indian film

Ee.Ma.Yau. is a 2018 Indian Malayalam-language independent tragedy film directed by Lijo Jose Pellissery and written by P. F. Mathews. It stars Vinayakan, Chemban Vinod Jose, Pauly Valsan, Bitto Davis, Kainakary Thankaraj, Dileesh Pothan and Arya Salim in the main roles. The film had its premiere on 30 November 2017 and was theatrically released on 4 May 2018. The film revolves around the death and funeral of an older man from the Latin Catholic community in Chellanam, Ernakulam district. Lijo Jose Pellissery won the Best Director Award at the 48th Kerala State Film Awards for Ee.Ma.Yau. The film won the Silver Peacock-Best Director and Best Actor awards at the 49th International Film Festival of India. It also won two awards at the International Film Festival of Kerala viz. the NETPAC Award for Best Asian film in Competition and the Golden Crow Pheasant Award for the best director. It was included in The Hindu's top 25 Malayalam films of the decade and is widely regarded as one of the defining movies of the New Wave Movement.

It stars Vinay Forrt, Chemban Vinod Jose, Joju George, Soubin Shahir and Jaffar Idukki. The film was produced by Lijo Jose Pellissery and Chemban Vinod Jose under the banner of Movie Monastery and Chembosky Motion Pictures, with Jesto Varghese, O Thomas Panicker and Naushad Salahudin as co-producers. The original story and characters were based on a short story Kaligeminarile Kuttavalikal from the book Mullaranjanam written by Vinoy Thomas.

Romancham (transl. Goosebump) is a 2023 Indian Malayalam-language comedy horror film directed by Jithu Madhavan in his directorial debut and produced by Johnpaul George, Girish Gangadharan and Joby George under the banner of Guppy Films and Johnpaul George Productions. Based on a real life incident faced by the director and his friends during their college days, the film stars Soubin Shahir, Arjun Ashokan, Sajin Gopu, Siju Sunny, Abin Bino, Anantharaman Ajay and Afsal P.H. Set in Bangalore, the plot revolves around seven unmarried men and their usage of an Ouija board, which leads to various subsequent events. Aavesham is the soundtrack to the 2024 film of the same name directed by Jithu Madhavan starring Fahadh Faasil. The soundtrack consisted of nine songs composed by Sushin Shyam with lyrics primarily written by Vinayak Sasikumar. The album was released by Think Music on 19 April 2024.
