Samantha Tanson (born on 4 April 1977) [1] is a Luxembourgish lawyer and politician. She was the Minister of Culture from December 2018 to November 2023 and the Minister of Justice from September 2019 to November 2023. She was also the Minister of Housing between December 2018 and October 2019.
Tanson studied at Pantheon-Sorbonne University in Paris and completed her studies with a master's degree in law and a diploma from Sciences Po Paris. [1]
She was a collaborator of Luxembourg weekly newspaper D'Lëtzebuerger Land ,and from 2002 to 2005 a journalist at RTL Radio Lëtzebuerg . She became a lawyer in 2005. [1]
In 2009,she became one of the two spokespeople of the youth organisation of The Greens party. She was the spokeswoman of the party from 2009 to 2010 (alongside Christian Goebel) and later chaired the party. Moreover,she was the vice-chairwoman of the party foundation Grénger Stëftung alongside Claude Turmes.
From 2011 to 2018,Tanson represented The Greens in the Luxembourg communal council. From 2013 to 2017,she was the Luxembourg City échevine in charge of finance and mobility. [2]
On 7 June 2015,she was appointed to the Council of State as a replacement for Agnès Rausch. [3] However,she resigned from that position in order to replace her party colleague Claude Adam in the Chamber of Deputies. [4] She was re-elected as a deputy in the October 2018 general election. [5] Nonetheless,she resigned from her seat to take office as the Minister of Housing and the Minister of Culture within the Second Bettel–Schneider Ministry on 5 December 2018.
On 6 September 2019,Tanson became the interim Minister of Justice as a replacement for Félix Braz,who suffered from severe illness. [6] She was appointed as the titular Minister of Justice on 25 September 2019. [6]

Executive power is under the constitution of 1868,as amended,exercised by the government,by the grand duke and the Council of Government (cabinet),which consists of a prime minister and several other ministers. Luc Frieden is a Luxembourgish politician and lawyer who serves as the 25th prime minister of Luxembourg since November 2023. A member of the Christian Social People's Party (CSV),he held numerous cabinet positions in the Luxembourgish government between 1998 and 2013,notably serving as the minister for the Treasury and Budget during the transition from the Franc to the Euro and as Minister of Finance during the European debt crisis. Frieden was president of the Luxembourgish Chamber of Commerce and Eurochambres,the business federation of European Chambers of Commerce and Industry.
Lesbian,gay,bisexual,and transgender (LGBT) people in Luxembourg have the same legal rights as non-LGBT people. Partnerships,which grant many of the benefits of marriage,have been recognised since 2004. In June 2014,the Luxembourgish Parliament passed a law enabling same-sex marriage and adoption rights,which took effect on 1 January 2015. Additionally,discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation and "change of sex" in employment,healthcare and the provision of goods and services is outlawed,and transgender people are allowed to change their legal gender on the basis of self-determination.
Xavier Bettel is a Luxembourgish lawyer and politician who serves as the 14th deputy prime minister of Luxembourg and as the minister for Foreign Affairs since 2023. He served as the 24th prime minister of Luxembourg from 2013 to 2023. He was a member of the Chamber of Deputies (1999–2013) and Mayor of Luxembourg City (2011–2013).
Etienne Schneider is a Luxembourgish politician and economist who served as First Deputy Prime Minister of Luxembourg from 2013 to 2020. He is a member of the Luxembourg Socialist Workers' Party (LSAP).

Tilly Metz is a Luxembourgish politician of the Green Party. After teaching humanities and social sciences,she was appointed as deputy director of the Lycée Technique pour Professions Educatives et Sociales (LTPES) in Mersch. She was the mayor of the municipality of Weiler-la-Tour (Luxembourg) and has been a Member of the European Parliament since June 2018,as part of the Greens/EFA political group. She is particularly known for her stance on animal welfare,health-related issues and human rights.

Paulette Lenert is a Luxembourgish lawyer and politician of the Luxembourg Socialist Workers' Party. She held the positions of Deputy Prime Minister,Minister of Health,Minister Delegate of Social Security,and Minister of Consumer Protection. She was Minister of Development Cooperation and Humanitarian Affairs from 5 December 2018 to 4 February 2020.
Semiray Ahmedova is a Luxembourgian architect and politician of The Greens. She became a deputy in 2019.
Fernand Etgen is a Luxembourgish politician of the Democratic Party (DP) who served as the President of the Chamber of Deputies from 2018 to 2023.
Djuna Bernard is a Luxembourgish politician and member of the Luxembourg's Green Party,Déi Gréng. She was a member of the Chamber of Deputies from December 2018 to 2023. A candidate in the 2018 legislative election,she was not directly elected but replaced Sam Tanson when she became Minister for Housing and Culture,making her the youngest deputy in the Chamber at 26 years old. She stood as a candidate for the co-presidency of The Greens in January 2019,and subsequently won in March that year and currently serves with Meris Šehović. Bernard and Šehovićwere both re-elected unopposed in March 2021.

From 2017 to 2020,he was spokesman of déi jonk gréng,the political youth movement of the Green Party.
