The All India Trinamool Congress is an Indian political party that is mainly influential in the state of West Bengal. It was founded by Mamata Banerjee on 1 January 1998 as a breakaway faction from the Indian National Congress and rapidly rose to prominence in the politics of West Bengal under her leadership. Presently,it is ruling the state of West Bengal beside being the third-largest party in India in terms of number of MPs just after the BJP and INC.
The West Bengal Legislative Assembly is the unicameral legislature of the Indian state of West Bengal. It is located in the B. B. D. Bagh area of Kolkata,the capital of the state. Members of the Legislative assembly are directly elected by the people. The legislative assembly comprises 294 Members of Legislative Assembly,all directly elected from single-seat constituencies. He was a Member of Parliament in Rajya Sabha from West Bengal and a former Member of Parliament,Lok Sabha (2009–19) representing Barrackpore constituency of West Bengal. Prior to that he was Member of Parliament,Rajya Sabha for two separate terms. He is the former Union Minister for Railways and the former Union Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare under Manmohan Singh's cabinet.
Mukul Roy is an Indian politician from West Bengal. He has also served as a Minister of State in the Shipping Ministry and later Ministry of Railways during the second UPA government. Before the creation of Trinamool Congress,he was a member of Indian National Congress. Between 2017 and 2021,Roy left Trinamool Congress to join Bharatiya Janata Party. In 2021,he left BJP and joined TMC.
Derek O'Brien is an Indian politician,television personality and quiz master. He is a Member of Parliament in the Rajya Sabha from West Bengal and member of the AITC. He is the chief national spokesperson as well as leader of the AITC Parliamentary Party in the Rajya Sabha. He has been suspended several times from Parliament. Prior to his Parliamentary career,he became well known as the quizmaster for the Bournvita Quiz Contest and other shows.
Partha Chatterjee is an Indian politician. He earlier served as the Minister of Commerce and Industries and formerly served as the Education Minister of Government of West Bengal. He represented the Trinamool Congress. He also held the political office of Secretary General of the All India Trinamool Congress. In 2022,he was suspended indefinitely from the party following his arrest by the Enforcement Directorate.
Dola Sen is an Indian politician and trade unionist. From 2020 she is now the central president of the Indian National Trinamool Trade Union Congress (INTTUC).
Mahua Moitra is an Indian politician and former investment banker. She won the 2019 Indian general election as an All India Trinamool Congress (AITC) party candidate from Krishnanagar and served as a Member of Parliament,Lok Sabha from 2019 to 2023 until being expelled. She was re-elected to parliament in the 2024 Indian general election. She was noticed nationally and internationally for her ‘Early signs of fasicism’speech address to Indian Parliament.
Santanu Sen is an Indian doctor and politician. He was a councilor in the Kolkata Municipal Corporation. He was a Rajya Sabha member from West Bengal. He was the President of the Indian Medical Association.
Arjun Singh is an Indian politician and a Member of Parliament in the 17th Lok Sabha from Barrackpore Lok Sabha constituency in West Bengal. He contested the 2019 Indian general election as a BJP candidate and won against TMC candidate Dinesh Trivedi.
Sukanta Majumdar is an Indian politician. The 2024 elections in India includes the general election and elections to the Rajya Sabha,to state legislative assemblies,to Panchayats and urban local bodies.
Municipal elections was held in West Bengal on 27 February 2022 to elect members of all 108 municipalities in the state. The election to four remaining wards were held in 26 June.
The Seventeenth Legislative Assembly of West Bengal constituted after the 2021 West Bengal Legislative Assembly elections which were concluded earlier on 29 April 2021 and the results were announced on 2 May 2021. The tenure of West Bengal Legislative Assembly is scheduled to end on 7 May 2026.
Abhijit Gangopadhyay is an Indian politician and former judge of the Calcutta High Court.
Manik Bhattacharya is an Indian teacher,advocate and politician who served as president of West Bengal Board of Primary Education (WBBPE) until 2022. During SLST Examination 2016,he was the president of WBBPE. In late 2023,he was admitted to SSKM Hospital,citing chest pains.[11] A member of Trinamool Congress,he is serving as member of West Bengal Legislative Assembly from Palashipara,Nadia since 7 May 2021. He was arrested by ED on 11 October,2022 in connection with 2022 West Bengal School Service Commission recruitment scam. He is currently in jail custody.
Jakir Hossain is an Indian politician and businessman from West Bengal,who is serving as a member of the West Bengal Assembly from Jangipur seat in Murshidabad. A member of Trinamool Congress,he served as Minister of State of Labour until 2021.
Supti Pandey is an Indian politician from West Bengal. As a member of Trinamool Congress,she is the incumbent MLA from Maniktala. She is the widow of Sadhan Pande.
