s:amplify is a multiple award-winning music production house formed by Davide Carbone and Josh Abrahams who have collectively been producing and composing music since the late 1980s. Together they have won three ARIA Awards and produced several worldwide chart topping hits. s:amplify have also been responsible for the composition and sound design for several synthesizers, TV, film and video game projects.

Background

In 1990, Abrahams and Carbone formed the techno group, Future Sound of Melbourne with acid house DJ Steve Robbins. They released 12" singles on Shock Records. Future Sound of Melbourne also released tracks on Two Thumbs Records, with the Thomas Heckmann remix of their track "Welcome" featured on the inaugural IF? Records compilation Zeitgeist. Future Sound of Melbourne won the ARIA Award for "Best Dance Release" for their Chapter One album in 1996. [1]

After enjoying successful individual careers in the Music industry Abrahams and Carbone reformed under the moniker of s:amplify in 2009.

2009-present: s:amplify

Under the s:amplify moniker Abrahams and Carbone teamed with Carl Cox to co-write and co-produce Cox's artist album All Roads Lead to the Dancefloor, [2] released in 2011. This trio also provided remixes for Moby, Miguel Bosé [3] and Gilles Peterson, among others. As s:amplify, Carbone and Abrahams provided complete sonic branding packages for Melbourne TV network Channel 31, and the Melbourne public transport company Metro Trains Melbourne, as well as composing music for Tourism Australia, [4] Alienware, [5] Ford, [6] Jaguar Cars, [7] and the International Cricket Council. [8] s:amplify have also produced songs for various artists including the cover version of Wuthering Heights by Robyn Loau. [9]

In 2011, s:amplify were featured on the front cover of the April issue of Music Tech magazine. [10] [ failed verification ] They released two sound design packs through Loopmasters which have received positive reviews. [11] They also provided the sound design for the Japanese synthesizer KDJ One [12] [ failed verification ][ dubious – discuss ] They were appointed musical directors for the City of Sydney New Year's Eve fireworks show.[ when? ] [13] The 2011/2012 12-minute NYE Fireworks extravaganza on Sydney Harbour showcased 24 Australian songs including original compositions from Carbone and Abrahams. [14] s:amplify were again appointed musical directors for the 2012/2013 Sydney New Year's Eve fireworks show where they worked alongside Kylie Minogue to produce the 12-minute soundtrack for the show, which culminated in a music composition that featured exclusive content from Kylie. [15] Carbone and Abrahams also created the 30-minute soundtrack for the International Fleet Review. They worked closely alongside the Royal Australian Navy Band to create the soundtrack. [16]

The Mavis's were an Australian rock band formed in Ballarat, Victoria, in 1987. Founding mainstays are Becky Thomas on vocals and keyboards, her brother Matt Thomas on guitar and vocals, and Andrea Vendy on drums. They were joined by Nick Gill on guitar in 1990, and Josh Alexander on bass guitar in 1994. They released three studio albums: Venus Returning, Pink Pills – which reached No. 12 on the ARIA Albums Chart – and Rapture. Their synth-driven single, "Cry", peaked at No. 13 on the ARIA Singles Charts and was listed on the Triple J Hottest 100 for 1998. The band also performed the song on Hey Hey It's Saturday. They disbanded in December 2001 after a farewell tour of Australia.

From 1991 to 1994, she was lead singer of pop group Girlfriend, before leaving the group to become the face and voice of world music project Siva Pacifica. The Temper Trap are an Australian indie rock band formed in 2005 by Dougy Mandagi, Jonathon Aherne, and Toby Dundas. In 2008, the group relocated from Melbourne to London. The band released their debut album Conditions in June 2009 to favourable reviews and commercial success; it peaked at No. 9 on the ARIA Albums Chart and into the top 30 on the UK Albums Chart. Its lead single, "Sweet Disposition", peaked in the top 10 on the Belgian, Irish and UK Singles Charts and reached No. 14 on the ARIA Singles Chart. At the ARIA Music Awards of 2010 in November, The Temper Trap won Best Group and Most Popular Australian Single for "Sweet Disposition". Their eponymous second album was released in late May/early June 2012 under Liberation Music (AUS), Infectious Records (UK) and Glassnote Records (US). The album won the band Best Rock Album, and they also won Best Group at the 2012 ARIA Awards. In October 2013 guitarist Lorenzo Sillitto left the band, during the recording of the third album.

Peter "Peewee" Ferris is a DJ from Sydney. Ferris began mixing at an early age, being inspired by his older brothers Stephen and John who are also DJs.

Sarah Elizabeth Blaskow, known professionally as Sarah Blasko, is an Australian singer, songwriter, musician and record producer. From April 2002, Blasko developed her solo career after fronting Sydney-based band, Acquiesce, between the mid-1990s and 2001. She had performed under her then married name, Sarah Semmens, and, after leaving Acquiesce, as Sorija in a briefly existing duo of that name. As a solo artist Blasko has released six studio albums, The Overture & the Underscore, What the Sea Wants, the Sea Will Have – which peaked at No. 7 on the ARIA Albums Chart, As Day Follows Night – which reached No. 5, I Awake – which made No. 9, Eternal Return, and Depth of Field.
