Sandeep Sejwal (born 23 January 1989) is an Indian swimmer who has participated in Olympics 2008. [1] [2] He contested in the men's 100 m and 200 m breaststroke events at the 2010 Asian Juniors in Beijing, but did not reach the finals in both events. [3] He won the bronze medal in 2014 Asian Games in 50 m breaststroke.

Career

Sandeep is the Senior National Champion and Indian National Record-holder in the 50 m, 100 m and 200 m Breaststroke events. He won silver medals at the Asian Indoor Games, 2007 in the 50 m and 100 m Breaststroke events. [4] [5] [6]

Sandeep won bronze medal in 50m breaststroke event at the 2014 Asian Games. [7] [8]

He won two gold medals in the 100m, and 200m breaststroke at the 2010 South Asian Games. [9] [10]

He won three gold medals in the 50m,100m, and 200m breaststroke at the 2016 South Asian Games. [11] [12]

He won gold medal with a new national record in 50m breaststroke at the 14th Singapore National Swimming Championships, 2018. [13] [14]

He finished 7th in the finals of 50m breaststroke at the 2018 Asian Games. [15] [16]

He is coached by Nihar Ameen [17] in Bangalore. He is supported by the GoSports Foundation, a sports non profit organisation that aims to promote sporting excellence in India. [18]

Awards

Sandeep was awarded the Arjuna award by government of India by then president Pranab Mukherjee. [19]

Personal life

Sejwal married TV actress Pooja Banerjee on 28 February 2017. The couple had their first child, a baby girl named Sana on 12 March 2022. [20] [21]

Sandeep is an undergraduate student at St. Stephen's College, Delhi. [6]

Rehan Jahangir Poncha is an Indian former swimmer, Olympian, Arjuna Award winner and a six-time national champion, who specialized in backstroke, butterfly, and individual medley events. He is also the recipient of the Eklavya Award from the Karnataka Olympic Association. He is a 6-time Indian swimming champion, and a 6-time record holder in the butterfly. Stanislav Kuzmin is a Kazakh swimmer, who specialized in sprint freestyle and butterfly events. He represented his nation Kazakhstan at the 2008 Summer Olympics, and has won a career total of eight medals in a major international competition, spanning two editions of the Asian Indoor Games, and the 2010 Asian Games in Guangzhou, China, as a member of the medley relay team. Benjamin Proud is an English competitive swimmer, representing Great Britain at the Olympic Games, the FINA World Aquatics Championships and LEN European Aquatics Championships, and England at the Commonwealth Games. Proud specialises in sprint freestyle and butterfly races, specifically the 50-metre distance in both. He is the 2022 World Champion in the 50 metre freestyle, his second long course world title. He is the 2017 world champion in the 50-metre butterfly. He is only the third male swimmer to be simultaneously short-course and long-course World Champion at 50 metre freestyle, after César Cielo and Florent Manaudou.

Supriya Mondal, born on 12 January 1997 hails from a little fishing village in Shahpur, West Bengal. He is an Indian swimmer and trains at the Dolphin Academy, Bangalore under coach Nihar Ameen who has trained Olympians like Virdhawal Khade and Sandeep Sejwal. Srikanth is supported by the GoSports Foundation, Bangalore and has been part of their scholarship programme since 2012.

Abhishek Verma is an Indian archer. At the 2014 Asian Games at Incheon, South Korea, he won the gold medal in the men's compound archery team event along with Rajat Chauhan and Sandeep Kumar, and the silver medal in the men's individual compound event. On 15 August 2015, he won a gold medal in the compound men's individual section at the Archery World Cup Stage 3 in Wroclaw, Poland. And three time silver medallist from the Asian Para Games; he won them at the 2010 and 2014 editions in Guangzhou, China and Incheon, Korea, respectively. He received the Arjuna award in 2016 for his outstanding sporting achievements, the Maharana pratap Award in 2012 from state sports council of Rajasthan, and the Aravali Award in 2019. He is a national record holder in 200m and 400m since 2012. And now his goal is towards winning medal in coming Para Commonwealth games 2022.
