Sands of Time is the seventh studio album by Jay and the Americans released on March 15, 1969. The album went to #51 on the Billboard 200 chart and reached #30 on the Cashbox chart. [2]

Jay and the Americans are an American pop rock group popular in the 1960s. Their initial line-up consisted of John "Jay" Traynor, Howard Kane, Kenny Vance and Sandy Deanne, though their greatest success on the charts came after Traynor had been replaced as lead singer by Jay Black.

The Billboard 200 is a record chart ranking the 200 most popular music albums and EPs in the United States. It is published weekly by Billboard magazine. It is frequently used to convey the popularity of an artist or groups of artists. Often, a recording act will be remembered by its "number ones", those of their albums that outperformed all others during at least one week. The chart grew from a weekly top 10 list in 1956 to become a top 200 in May 1967, and acquired its present title in March 1992. Its previous names include the Billboard Top LPs (1961–72), Billboard Top LPs & Tape (1972–84), Billboard Top 200 Albums (1984–85) and Billboard Top Pop Albums.

Cash Box was a music industry trade magazine, originally published weekly from July 1942 to November 1996. Ten years after its dissolution it was revived and currently continues as Cashbox Magazine, an online magazine with weekly charts and occasional special print issues.

The song "This Magic Moment" hit #6 on the Billboard Hot 100 and was the group's first top ten hit in over three years. The song "Hushabye" hit #62 and "When You Dance" went to #70 in 1969. Following the release of the similarly-themed follow-up album Wax Museum in 1970, "Sands of Time" was reissued under the title Wax Museum, Vol. 2.

It spent sixteen weeks on Billboard Hot 100, reaching #20 at its peak. Personnel on the original recording included Al Caiola and Bucky Pizzarelli on guitars and Panama Francis on drums. Disc jockey Alan Freed featured "Hushabye" as the closing tune on his televised Saturday night "Big Beat Show".

Following the release of the similarly-themed follow-up album Wax Museum in 1970, "Sands of Time" was reissued under the title Wax Museum, Vol. 2.. The album cover features a note saying formerly issued under the name of "sands of time" . The LP featured the same track listing in the same order .
