Sandy Rummel (born August 10,1942) is a Minnesota politician and a former member of the Minnesota Senate who represented District 53,which includes portions of Anoka and Ramsey counties in the northeastern Twin Cities metropolitan area. A Democrat,she was first elected to the Senate in 2006, [1] but was unseated in the 2010 general election by Republican Roger Chamberlain. [2] She was subsequently appointed to the Metropolitan Council by Governor Mark Dayton on March 2,2011. [3]
Rummel was a member of the Senate's Education Committee (of which she was vice chair) and Energy,Utilities,Technology and Communications Committee. She also served on the Finance subcommittees for the E-12 Education Budget and Policy Division,the Environment,Energy and Natural Resources Budget Division,the Environment,Energy and Natural Resources Budget Division-Energy Subdivision,and the Environment,Energy and Natural Resources Budget Division-Natural Resources. [4] Her special legislative concerns included education,environment and natural resources,health and human services,family security,early childhood,jobs and energy. [1]
Rummel graduated from Notre Dame High School in Fairfield,Connecticut,then attended Dominican University in River Forest,Illinois,where she received her B.A. degree. She went on to receive her M.A. degree at the University of Iowa in Iowa City,and her Ed. D. from the University of St. Thomas in Saint Paul. She is a communications consultant,and the owner of RDH Solutions,a communications firm working with health,education and human service organizations. She has also worked as an adjunct professor at the University of St. Thomas. [1] [5]
Rummel has been active on various education-related community boards. She served on the White Bear Lake School Board from 1998 to 2006. For five of those years,she was the board's vice chair. She was a member of the All-State School Board in 2003,and was a community ambassador for the Minnesota School Boards Association. She was also chair of the East Metro Integration District 6067 (EMID), [6] a collaborative effort that fosters voluntary integration among St. Paul Public Schools and nine suburban school districts in the eastern Twin Cities metropolitan area. James Murray Vickerman was an American politician from Minnesota who served as Minnesota State Senator,first elected in 1986 in the Minnesota Democratic-Farmer-Labor Party's "firestorm" that swept southwestern Minnesota during the height of the 1980s Midwestern farm crisis. In that election,he unseated incumbent Senator Doran Isackson,winning by a substantial margin. He was re-elected in 1990,1992,1996,2000,2002 and 2006. On February 22,2010,he announced that he would not seek an eighth term,noting that he was doing so "with the satisfaction that when it's done right,our government can and does serve people." His term officially ended on January 3,2011.

Gary W. Kubly was a Minnesota politician and a member of the Minnesota Senate who represented District 20,which includes portions of Big Stone,Chippewa,Kandiyohi,Lac qui Parle,Lincoln,McLeod,Meeker,Renville,Swift and Yellow Medicine counties in the west central part of the state. A Democrat,he was first elected to the Senate in 2002,and was re-elected in 2006 and 2010. Prior to that,he served in the Minnesota House of Representatives representing the old District 15B from 1997 to 2003.

Linda Higgins is a Minnesota politician who represented the second district of Hennepin County as county commissioner from late 2012 to January 2019. Higgins is a former member of the Minnesota Senate representing District 58,which included portions of the city of Minneapolis in Hennepin County,which is in the Twin Cities metropolitan area. A Democrat,she was first elected to the Senate in 1996,and was re-elected in 2000,2002,2006 and 2010. She served as a majority whip from 2001 to 2006. In the fall of 2011,she announced that she would not seek reelection after the current term ended in 2012. However,when Hennepin County District 2 Commissioner Mark Stenglein announced in June 2012 that he would resign,Higgins decided to run for that position. On May 20,2012,she was endorsed by the DFL party for the position,and won the election in November. In 2014,she ran unopposed and was reelected. She served as the Vice-Chair of the County Board,and Chair of the Housing and Redevelopment Authority. She retired from the county board in January 2019.
Sharon L. Erickson Ropes is a Minnesota politician and a former member of the Minnesota Senate who represented District 31,which includes portions of Fillmore,Houston,and Winona counties in the southeastern part of the state. A Democrat,she was first elected to the Senate in 2006. She was subsequently unseated by Republican Jeremy Miller in the 2010 general election.
Richard "Rick" Olseen is a Minnesota politician and a former member of the Minnesota Senate,representing District 17,which includes portions of Anoka,Chisago and Isanti counties in the northeastern part of the Twin Cities metropolitan area. A Democrat,he was first elected to the Senate in 2006. He was unseated by Republican Sean Nienow in the 2010 general election;he had previously unseated Nienow in the 2006 general election.

Lisa A. Fobbe is a Minnesota politician and a former member of the Minnesota Senate who represented District 16,which includes portions of Benton,Mille Lacs,Morrison and Sherburne counties in the central part of the state. The district also includes the trust lands of the Mille Lacs Band of Ojibwe and Grand Casino Mille Lacs. A Democrat,she was first elected to the Senate in a special election held on November 4,2008. The seat became vacant when Senator Betsy Wergin resigned on July 28,2008,in order to accept an appointment by Minnesota Governor Tim Pawlenty as a member of the Minnesota Public Utilities Commission. She was unseated by Republican David Brown in the 2010 general election.
