Sanjay Arora is an Indian filmmaker and Actor. [1] He is known for making films such as Expression, Chase, [2] Butterfly Wings, [3] Once Again.

Early life

Sanjay Arora was born in Kurukshetra, India . As a child, he loved watching Hindi films and acting in skits and plays. He started as a host at the All India Radio, and hosted many programs targeting Indian youth. He did his schooling from Senior Model School, Kurukshetra and went ahead to do Electronics Engineering at D C R University of Science and Technology in Haryana and graduated with a Bachelor's degree. After that he did PG in Export Marketing and Management from Kurukshetra University. He moved to Detroit, Michigan in 1999, and started working as Software Engineer. Even though he was working as a software engineer, his passion was always in acting and film making. He studied filmmaking & direction at New York Film Academy in New York City. [4] He attended the India Today Acting School in Toronto, where he was trained by Roshan Taneja.

Film career

Arora invested the money he made from his engineering career in USA in producing and directing a short film Butterfly Wings. [5] It is based on a true story of a Physically challenged woman. The film was shot in Delhi with Indian and American actors. The film was featured at We Care Film Festival Film Festival, 2011 [6] and screened at 15 cities in India including, Delhi, Mumbai, Allahabad, Jaipur, Goa, Gurgaon and special shows in United Nation Information Center, Delhi [7] and BHEL, Haridwar. Film was screened at Picture this Film Festival, Calgary, [8] West Virginia Filmmaker Festival 2011, West Virginia (USA ), [9] Trinity Film Coalition Film Festival, Detroit, 2011(USA).

Other films

Once Again (Phir vehi) which is inspired from teaching of buddha was screened at Delhi International Film Festival. [10] Expression, as the name suggests, is about expressing internal feelings without verbal language. This film shows that language is not a barrier in love, centring on Karan, an American born Indian from America and Sonya, a Russian bartender in Moscow. It was shot in Detroit, USA with Indian and Russian actors, was screened in ICE short film festival, Pune, [11] and World Music & Independent Film Festival (WMIFF) 2012. Chase is about a young man actively seeks happiness. Happiness eludes him, but keeps on dropping hints. It was shot in New York city.

<i>I Am</i> (2010 Indian film) 2010 Indian anthology film

I Am is a 2010 Indian Hindi-language anthology film by Onir. It consists of four short films: "Omar", "Afia", "Abhimanyu", and "Megha". Each film shares the common theme of fear, and is based on real-life stories. The film was financed by donations from more than 400 different people worldwide, many of whom donated through social networking sites like Facebook. There are four stories but the characters are interwoven with each story. "Abhimanyu" is based on child abuse, "Omar" on gay rights, "Megha" is about Kashmiri Pandits and "Afia" deals with sperm donation. I Am was released with subtitles in all regions as six different languages are spoken in the film: Hindi, English, Kannada, Marathi, Bengali and Kashmiri.

Atlanta Nagendra is a screenwriter and director. His first film as a producer was Jokefalls. Nagendra is a software engineer turned film maker based in Atlanta, United States. Besides an engineering degree in computer-science, Nagendra has completed film making courses with emphasis on screenwriting, editing and direction.

Mumbhai Connection is a 2011 Hindi-language film shot entirely in Atlanta, USA. The film was set to release theatrically in August 2014 It is directed by Atlanta Nagendra, who also wrote the screenplay. Gurvinder Singh is an Indian film director. He is best known for his Punjabi language films Anhe Ghore Da Daan, and Chauthi Koot which premiered at Venice and Cannes Film Festival respectively. Gurvinder is an alumnus of the prestigious Film and Television Institute of India (FTII), Pune from where he studied film-making and graduated in 2001. He travelled extensively through Punjab between 2002 and 2006, living and traveling with folk itinerants, documenting folk ballads and oral narratives. It led to his first documentary 'Pala'. He continued to make short experimental works and documenting arts/artists for the next few years. In 2005 he was invited by avant-garde Indian filmmaker Mani Kaul to be his teaching assistant for a master-class at FTII, which led to a close association with the filmmaker who became his mentor. He translated and published a book of conversations of Udayan Vajpeyi with Mani Kaul, titled 'Uncloven Space'. Life! Camera Action... is a family-drama film directed, written, edited, produced by Rohit Gupta, in his feature-length directorial debut. Starring Dipti Mehta, Shaheed Woods, Noor Naghmi, Swati Kapila, John Crann, this ninety minutes quasi-autobiographical film follows a girl in pursuit of her dreams of becoming a filmmaker against all odds. The film received several awards and nominations. Its theatrical release was limited to film festivals. The film received direct-to-DVD release and subsequently on other video on demand (VOD) platforms.
