Sanjay Patel is an American animator, illustrator and author who has worked in the animation department of various projects, most of them animated films released by Pixar.

Background

Born in London, United Kingdom to Gujarati Indian parents, [1] Patel moved to the United States with his family at the age of four. [2] His father bought a motel in San Bernardino, California and Patel grew up there.

Career

He is best known for directing the short animated film Sanjay's Super Team (2015) inspired by Patel's own childhood, [3] which received a nomination in the category of Best Animated Short Film at the 88th Academy Awards [4] and for Best Animated Short Subject at the 43rd Annie Awards. [5]

Since 1996, Patel has worked as an animator on numerous Pixar films such as Monsters, Inc. (2001), Ratatouille (2007), Cars (2006), Monsters University (2013), Toy Story 2 (1999) and The Incredibles (2004) and served as a character developer on the latter two films. [6]

He also authored Ramayana: Divine Loophole, lending a whimsical illustration style and lighthearted voice to the Hindu epic , Ramayana. [7] [8]

Patel also started Ghee Happy. Ghee Happy is a brand that celebrates Indian mythology and culture through design and storytelling. [9] Ghee Happy produces books, exhibits, and apparel. The animated show reimagines Hindu deities as little kids discovering their powers in the titular deity daycare. The series was picked up by Netflix Animation on 2019, however the series was dropped due the leadership changes at Netflix Animation. In 2023, Ghee Happy was later reworked as an online series for YouTube. [10] [11]

Luckey was also the voice of Rick Dicker in The Incredibles, Chuckles the Clown in Toy Story 3 and as Eeyore in Winnie the Pooh (2011).

Ralph Eggleston was an American animator, art director, storyboard artist, and production designer at Pixar Animation Studios. He won the Academy Award for Best Animated Short Film for For the Birds.

Lou Romano is an American animator and voice actor. He did design work on Monsters, Inc. and The Incredibles, and he provided the voices of Bernie Kropp in The Incredibles, Snot Rod in Cars and Alfredo Linguini in Ratatouille.

James Ford Murphy is an American animator. He is the head of animation at Pixar Animation Studios. He directed the 2014 short film Lava.

Ratatouille is a 2007 American animated comedy-drama film produced by Pixar Animation Studios for Walt Disney Pictures. The eighth film produced by Pixar, it was written and directed by Brad Bird and produced by Brad Lewis, from an original idea by Jan Pinkava, who was credited for conceiving the film's story with Bird and Jim Capobianco. The film stars the voices of Patton Oswalt, Lou Romano, Ian Holm, Janeane Garofalo, Peter O'Toole, Brian Dennehy, Peter Sohn and Brad Garrett. The title refers to the French dish ratatouille, which is served at the end of the film, and also references the species of the main character, a rat. Set mostly in Paris, the plot follows a young rat Remy (Oswalt) who dreams of becoming a chef at Auguste Gusteau's (Garrett) restaurant and tries to achieve his goal by forming an unlikely alliance with the restaurant's garbage boy Alfredo Linguini (Romano).

Gini Cruz Santos is a Filipina animator at Pixar studios based in the San Francisco Bay Area. She worked on numerous Pixar animation films including Toy Story 2, Monsters, Inc., Finding Nemo, A Bug's Life, The Incredibles, Ratatouille, Toy Story 3, Up, Lifted and Brave. She was nominated in 2004 for an Annie award for her detailed lifelike animation on Finding Nemo, and was nominated by the Visual Effects Society for an award for this project as well.

Sanjay's Super Team is an animated short film produced by Pixar Animation Studios. Written and directed by Sanjay Patel, and based on his childhood, it premiered on June 15, 2015 at the Annecy International Animated Film Festival in France, and accompanied the theatrical release of Pixar's The Good Dinosaur on November 25, 2015.
