Sanjoy Nag (born 18 March) is a film director/actor. He won the National Film Award in 2011 for his debut feature film Memories in March . [1]

Early life and background

Sanjoy Nag was born and brought up in Kolkata. He completed his schooling from St James’ School. He pursued commerce from University of Calcutta. He was associated with the film and television industry of Bengal from a young age. [2] [3] [4] [5] [6] [7] [8] [9] [10] [ excessive citations ]

Career

He conceptualized the album Priyo Bondhu with Anjan Dutt and Nima Rahman. In 2011, he made his debut feature film Memories in March that won him the National Film Award for Best Feature Film in English.[ citation needed ] He acted in Rituparno Ghosh’s film on Rabindranath Tagore. He was associate director for Rituporno Ghosh's award winning film Chitrangada and Anjan Dutt's film Badadin [11] [ failed verification ]

Anjan Dutta is an Indian film director, actor, and singer-songwriter known for his work in the Bengali alternative music genre anyodharar gaan . As an actor, Dutta began his career in Bengali cinema in the Mrinal Sen film Chalachitro, for which he won the best newcomer actor award at the Venice Film Festival. He acted in Aparna Sen's hit film, Mr. and Mrs. Iyer. In 2018 he featured in Swapnasandhani's new play Taraye Taraye, as Vincent van Gogh, under the direction of Kaushik Sen.

Unishe April is a 1994 Indian Bengali-language drama film directed by Rituparno Ghosh and produced by Renu Roy under the banner of Spandan Films. It stars Aparna Sen and Debashree Roy while Prosenjit Chatterjee and Deepankar De appear in supporting roles. The music of the film was composed by Jyotishka Dasgupta.

Roopa Ganguly is an Indian actress, playback singer and politician. She is best known for her portrayal of Draupadi in B R Chopra's hit television series Mahabharat. Jisshu Sengupta is an Indian actor, producer, television presenter, who predominantly works in Bengali films, and also in Hindi, Telugu, Tamil films. Sengupta made his debut through a Bengali TV series, Mahaprabhu (1996) where he portrayed the role of Chaitanya Mahaprabhu; the role gained him much recognition. Subsequently, he made his film debut with Priyojon (1999), which became a debacle at the box office. In 2002, he played Rabindranath Tagore in Sukanta Roy's ambitious venture Chelebela alongside Debashree Roy playing Kadambari Devi. following which he appeared in a spate of critically and commercially unsuccessful projects. Anandalok Puraskar or Anandalok Awards ceremony is an award ceremony for Bengali film in India. The Anandalok, only film magazine in Bengali language, published from Ananda Publishers and Ananda Bazar Patrika presents this award (Puraskar). The magazine was started on 25 January 1975 and the awards ceremony was started in 1998.

Chitrangada: The Crowning Wish is a 2012 Bengali-language film written and directed by Rituparno Ghosh. The film premiered on 25 May 2012 at the New York Indian Film Festival. The film tells the story of a choreographer who is struggling with his gender identity. It is loosely based on Rabindranath Tagore's play Chitra; which is Tagore's take on the story of Chitrāngadā, a character from the Mahābhārata.

<i>Parapaar</i> 2014 Indian film

Parapaar is a 2014 film directed by Sanjoy Nag is based on the Moti Nandy novel. A convict, Rudra, who returns home to his wife and two kids after serving a 14-year jail term. He comes back to find his home-maker wife transformed into a woman who had grown stronger over the years while fending for herself and her kids. The film also stars Paoli Dam and Bratya Basu. A 'tribute promo' was launched on 31 August 2014 to commemorate the birth anniversary of Rituparno Ghosh.
