Santosh Thundiyil is an Indian cinematographer. He is best known for films like Kuch Kuch Hota Hai (1998), Devadoothan (2000), Krrish (2006), Pinjar (2003), Rowdy Rathore (2012) and Jai Ho (2014).

Early life and education

Santosh grew up in the town of Changanacherry in Kerala. [1] He was a student of Sacred Heart English Medium School and graduated in chemistry from St. Berchmans College, Changanacherry. Santosh did his post graduate diploma in cinematography from the prestigious FTII, Pune in India in 1994. [1] As a student, he was selected for representing Asia in the second European seminar for student directors of photography conducted in the National Film School, Hungary in Budapest, under Oscar-winning British Cinematographer billy williams (Gandhi) Dean Cundey.

Career

Santosh, who has assisted renowned directors of photography like Govind Nihlani , Venu and Binod Pradhan , also has a number of commercials and documentary films to his credit. He is trained under Oscar winning Billy Williams (Gandhi) and Dean Cundey (Jurassic Park) [1] [2] representing the country in the second European Seminar for Student Directors of Photography. Now as he continues his profession he is also a visiting Professor in National Institutes like Indian Institute of Technology, MUMBAI (IIT MUMBAI) and Film and Television Institute of India, Pune (FTII, Pune).

Santosh Sivan is an Indian cinematographer, film director, producer and actor known for his works in Malayalam, Tamil and Hindi cinema. Santosh graduated from the Film and Television Institute of India and has to date completed 55 feature films and 50 documentaries. He is regarded as one of India's finest and best cinematographers. He Has Won Twelve National Film Awards, Six Filmfare Awards, Four Kerala State Film Awards and Three Tamil Nadu State Film Awards, respectively.

K. K. Senthil Kumar is an Indian cinematographer who works in Telugu cinema. He is known for his frequent collaborations with S.S. Rajamouli. He graduated with a degree in cinematography from the Film and Television Institute of India, Pune. He made his debut as a cinematographer with the sitcom TV series Amrutham. He made his film debut with Aithe (2003) which brought him recognition.

Rajeev Ravi is an Indian cinematographer, director, and producer from Kochi, Kerala. He's best known for his work in Hindi and Malayalam films. After graduating from Film and Television Institute of India, Pune in 1997, he started his career by assisting in the Malayalam film, Pranayavarnangal (1998) shot by Santosh Thundiyil. He debuted as a cinematographer with the film Chandni Bar (2001), when he was launched by producer R. Mohan when the original cinematographer Venu had date clashes. The film was directed by Madhur Bhandarkar.

Anjuli Shukla is an Indian cinematographer and film director. She is the first and till date the only Indian woman who has won the National Film Award for Best Cinematography. Kutty Srank, her debut film, won her the National Film Award for Best Cinematography in 2010. Her recent direction, ‘Happy Mothers Day’ a feature film by Children's Film Society, India (CFSI) was the opening film for the 19th Edition of the International Children's Film Festival India (ICFFI). An alumnus of the Film and Television Institute of India, Shukla started her career as an assistant to cinematographer and director Santosh Sivan before making her feature film debut.

Jaya Krishna Gummadi is an Indian cinematographer who has worked in Telugu and Malayalam cinema. Even though he is from same village as that of Gummadi Venkateswara Rao, they are not related. Gummadi has received the National Film Award for Best Non-Feature Film Cinematography at the 56th National Film Awards, for his short film When This Man Dies. His diploma film Vadhakramam won the critics jury award at the Rio de Janeiro International Film Festival.

Apurba Kishore Bir, also known as A. K. Bir, is an Indian film cinematographer, screenwriter and director. He won the National Film Award for Best Cinematography for 27 Down, his debut film. His directional debut Aadi Mimansa won the Nargis Dutt Award for Best Feature Film on National Integration. Bir's other directional ventures Lavanya Preeti and Baaja were bestowed with the National Film Award for Best Children's Film. As of 2014, he has won nine National Film Awards—including three for Best Cinematography—and is one of the directors of National Film Development Corporation of India.

Murali G is an Indian cinematographer who works mainly in Tamil cinema. An alumnus of the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII), Pune, he won the National Film Award for Best Non-Feature Film Cinematography in 2011.

Sudhakar Reddy Yakkanti is an Indian film cinematographer, turned director, screenwriter, editor and producer known for his works in Hindi, Telugu, and Marathi cinema. In 1999, Reddy made his foray into cinema as an assistant cinematographer under Ajayan Vincent, in Rajakumarudu (1999) and Yamajathakudu.

Pratap. P. Nair born in Thiruvananthapuram the capital city of Kerala, Pratap is a cinematographer based in Kerala. Pratap attended Film and Television Institute of India, Pune and graduated in the year 2004. After graduating from FTII, Pratap moved to Mumbai to pursue a career in cinematography. He is best known for films like Mundrothuruth, August Club and Reti. He worked in film production jobs in Mumbai, Hyderabad and Chennai, including associate cameraman, Camera Assistant and Camera Operator. A few among his various other achievements and recognition's are National award, non feature section in the year 2002, UGC national award for best documentary direction in 2005, film critics award (television) 2012. Pratap has worked as Director of Photography for six Malayalam films and five Marathi films. Pratap has to his credit, more than fifty documentaries, short films and tv commercials and continues to work as a Director of Photography splitting his time between Mumbai, Kolkata and Trivandrum.

Supratim Bhol is an Indian cinematographer known majorly for his works in Hindi cinema and Bengali cinema. He has also worked in other regional language features and long length films Haryanvi, Odia and Chhattisgarhi. Supratim an alumni of the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII) and debuted as a Cinematographer with the film Colours of Innocence (2016) directed by Manas Mukul Pal,a National Award winner and this also gave him his first nomination at Filmfare East in 2017. His remarkable works till now are Panchlait, national award winner Avijatrik, Aparajito, Abyakto, Lomad and national award winner Dada Lakhmi. His venture in Haryanvi film, the national award winner Dada Lakhmi made him popular outside Bombay and Kolkata. Suprartim won the 68th National Fllm Awards for Best Cinematography for Avijatrik and also Filmfare Award East in 2021.
