Sara Paulina Andersson (born 13 January 2003) is a Swedish biathlete and cross-country skier. She has competed in the Biathlon World Cup since 2023. [1] She won gold medal in the single mixed relay at the 2024 IBU Open European Championships. [2]
Andersson's international career in cross-country skiing began in the summer of 2019 at roller ski championships at the junior level in Madona, Latvia. In the following years, she exclusively participated in junior competitions in her home country. In February 2020, she emerged victorious in a sprint race. In 2020 and 2021, the Swede also competed in some FIS races. In March 2022, she won the silver medal at the national junior cross-country skiing championships, finishing only 1.5 seconds behind Märta Rosenberg.
First international experiences for Sara Andersson were gained at the 2019 Youth World Championships. The following year, she exclusively participated in the Junior European Championships. The individual races at the Youth Olympic Games did not go satisfactorily for her; however, she won bronze in the Single Mixed Relay alongside Oscar Andersson. [3] At the beginning of the 2020/21 season, at 18 years old, she made her debut in the IBU Cup and, in her second competition at Arber, finished sixth in the sprint. At the 2021 Youth World Championships, Andersson narrowly missed a medal in the individual and pursuit events, finishing ninth in the sprint. In the winter of 2021/22, Andersson consistently competed in the IBU Cup. She narrowly missed her first podium as she finished fourth in Sjusjøen, and in Osrblie, she secured a fifth-place finish. Her first podium came at the same venue in the pursuit, where she only had to concede to Yevgeniya Burtasova. The season ended remarkably well, with Andersson winning gold in the individual and bronze in the pursuit at the Youth World Championships. She continued her success at the Youth Olympic Festival, earning gold in the sprint and silver in the individual event.
The winter of 2022/23 was also successful for Andersson, with most of her competitions resulting in top-20 finishes. She reached the podium once with the mixed relay team, including Anton Ivarsson, Oskar Brandt, and Felicia Lindqvist. She was supposed to make her Biathlon World Cup debut in the individual event in Ruhpolding but did not participate. After the Biathlon Junior World Championships 2022, where she earned a bronze medal, Andersson finally made her World Cup debut at the season finale in Oslo. In the sprint, she hit all ten targets and immediately placed 31st, entering the points range.

Ole Einar Bjørndalen is a retired Norwegian professional biathlete and coach, often referred to by the nickname, the "King of Biathlon". With 13 Winter Olympic Games medals, he is second on the list of multiple medalists behind Marit Bjørgen who has won 15 medals. He is also the most successful biathlete of all time at the Biathlon World Championships, having won 45 medals. With 95 World Cup wins, Bjørndalen is ranked first all-time for career victories on the Biathlon World Cup tour. He has won the Overall World Cup title six times, in 1997–98, in 2002–03, in 2004–05, in 2005–06, in 2007–08 and in 2008–09.
Liv Grete Skjelbreid from Hålandsdal, Fusa, near the city of Bergen in western Norway, is a former professional biathlete. On 20 March 2006, Liv Grete announced her retirement, effective at the end of the season which ended on 26 March at the Holmenkollen. She said that she was retiring because of her young daughter, Emma, her family and because she did not have the motivation to continue.

Magdalena "Lena" Holzer is a retired German professional biathlete. She is the most successful woman of all time at Biathlon World Championships and a two-time Olympic gold medalist. At the age of 21, she became the youngest Overall World Cup winner in the history of the International Biathlon Union (IBU). With 34 World Cup wins, Holzer is ranked second all-time for career victories on the Biathlon World Cup tour. She has won the Overall World Cup title three times, in 2007–08, in 2009–10 and her final season in 2011–12. At only 25 years old, Holzer retired from the sport in March 2012, citing a lack of motivation and her desire for a normal life.

Svetlana Yuryevna Sleptsova is a retired Russian biathlete. She is a member of the club CSKA. She is a three-time Junior World Champion and won the bronze medal in the mixed relay at the 2008 World Championships in Östersund. In 2009, she was part of the gold medal winning Russian women's relay team at the World Championships in Pyeongchang. Sleptsova is an Olympic champion in relay at Vancouver.
Kaisa Leena Mäkäräinen is a Finnish former world-champion and 3-time world-cup-winning biathlete, who currently competes for Kontiolahden Urheilijat. Outside sports, Mäkäräinen is currently studying to be a Physics teacher at the University of Eastern Finland in Joensuu. Her team coach is Jonne Kähkönen, while Jarmo Punkkinen is her ski coach.
Miriam Neureuther is a former German biathlete and cross-country skier. She has won an Olympic silver medal in cross-country skiing and two biathlon world championship titles, all in team events. Noted for her fast skiing performances, she won two junior world championship titles in biathlon in 2008 and 2009. Gössner was called up for the Nordic World Ski Championships 2009, where she was part of Germany's cross-country team claiming silver in the 4 × 5 kilometre relay.
Erik Lesser is a German former biathlete. In 2010, he ran his first single World Cup Race. At the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, he won a silver medal at Men's individual. At the Biathlon World Championships 2013 he won a bronze medal with the German team in Men's relay.
Yuliia Valentynivna Dzhyma is a Ukrainian World Cup level biathlete. She is Olympic champion in women's relay, multiple World championships medalist. She is one of the most successful Ukrainian biathletes of the 2010s.
Stina Nilsson is a Swedish biathlete and former cross-country skier. She is a five-time Olympic medalist and the 2018 Olympic champion in the individual sprint. In March 2020 she announced that she would switch to competing in biathlon.
Dorothea Wierer is an Italian biathlete competing in the Biathlon World Cup. Laura Dahlmeier is a retired German biathlete. Dahlmeier started in her first world cup races in the 2012/13 season. In 2014, she participated in the Winter Olympics in Sochi. She won a record of five gold medals at the World Championships of 2017. In 2018 she became the first woman to win the biathlon sprint and pursuit in the same Olympics. During her career she has won a total of two golds and one bronze at the Olympics, seven gold medals, three silver medals and five bronze medals at World Championships, one overall World Cup and two discipline World Cup titles. Dahlmeier announced her retirement from competition in May 2019, at the age of 25. In October 2019, she released a children's book.
