Sasikala Pushpa (born 27 May 1976) is an Indian politician who serving as vice president of the Bharatiya Janata Party in Tamil Nadu. She served as a member of the Parliament in the Rajya Sabha. [3] She was also a mayor of Thoothukudi Municipal Corporation from 2011 to 2014. [4]
In March 2018,Sasikala Pushpa married Dr. B Ramaswamy in violation of the order of the Madurai Family Court to stay the marriage. [5] The stay of the Court was based on a complaint lodged by wife of Ramasamy from their previous marriage,who says she is still married to Ramaswamy,and has not yet officially divorced him. The court has said that the first marriage is still valid. [6] Ramasamy has a daughter from his previous marriage and his previous wife alleged of constant death threats to her family for the last 6 months threatening her to divorce Ramasamy. [7]
Her second husband filed a complaint against her in January 2022 for allegedly letting people inside their home without his knowledge. He claimed that when he entered their home,he was welcomed by an unknown women,he found Packets of food scattered around our house and scent of alcohol filled the house,Sasikala Pushpa was lying in the bedroom,in another room he allegedly found an unidentified half-dressed man sleeping. He also claimed Sasikala Pushpa allegedly started hurling abuses at him and tried to attack him,apart from threatening to murder him. [8] [9] [10] JJ Nagar police registered a case against Sasikala Pushpa and two others in February 2022,based on her husband's complaint that she is using their house in Anna Nagar for prostitution. In August 2016,it was alleged that she had been expelled from the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) party after an altercation with Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) MP Tiruchi Siva at Delhi IGI airport. [12] [13] In July 2017 the Supreme Court found that no expulsion notice had been served and that she had not,in fact been expelled by the party. [14]
In December 2016,AIADMK cadres thrashed expelled AIADMK MP Sasikala Pushpa's husband Lingeswaran Thilagan and their legal representatives when they arrived at the Royapettah AIADMK office to file nomination for the post of General Secretary. [15] Pushpa's husband Lingeswara Thilagan was later arrested. [16]
Sasikala Pushpa Ramaswamy joined BJP on February 2,2020. [17] She Was Appointed as Vice President of Tamil Nadu BJP. [18]
A 22 year old maid of Sasikala Pushpa on August 9,2016,alleged that she and her sister suffered sexual harassment at the hands of Pushpa's husband Lingesvara Thilakan,her son,her mother who allegedly tortured them and also against pushpa of torture. [19] The maid claimed that she was threatened to be killed if she told anybody about the sexual harassment and when she tried to escape from their house in Anna Nagar,they caught her and shaved her head. They claimed that they were fired in 2015 and ordered not to reveal anything that happened to them. [20] The Pudukkottai All Women Police Station,registered a case against Sasikala Pushpa,and her family based on a complaint by her maids. [21] [22] A temporary relief by the Delhi high court stating that her family members should not be arrested till August 22,was given to her husband and son on August 18. They filed a joint petition before the Madurai bench of the Madras high court seeking anticipatory bail and claimed it was an act of political vendetta. [23] The maids withdrew their complaint in March 2017. [24]

The All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam is an Indian regional political party with great influence in the state of Tamil Nadu and the union territory of Puducherry. It is a Dravidian party founded by the former chief minister of Tamil Nadu M. G. Ramachandran (M.G.R.) at Madurai on 17 October 1972 as a breakaway faction from the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam after M. Karunanidhi expelled him from the party for demanding an account as the party treasurer. The party is adhering to the policies of socialism and secularism based on the principles of C. N. Annadurai (Anna) collectively coined as Annaism by M.G.R. Vivekanandan Krishnaveni Sasikala,also known by her married name Sasikala Natarajan,and often referred to by her initials VKS,is an Indian politician. She was a close associate of J. Jayalalithaa,the late chief minister of Tamil Nadu,who headed the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) from 1989 until her death in 2016. After Jayalalithaa's death,the party's general council elected her as a temporary secretary general of AIADMK. Before being imprisoned in the Central Prison in Bangalore,Sasikala appointed Edappadi K. Palanisamy as Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu. Palanisamy and other ministers removed her from the post and expelled her from the party in September 2017. Her dismissal was upheld by the Madras High Court in December 2023.

By-elections to eighteen state assembly constituencies were held in Tamil Nadu on 18 April 2019 together with 2019 Indian general election. It was considered to be mini-assembly election battle for the power in Tamil Nadu. The ruling government had to prove its majority while the opposition was trying hard to get maximum seats. There were 22 seats vacant in the Tamil Nadu assembly,By-election took place in two phases and in the first phase for 18 assembly constituencies together with Lok Sabha general election on 18 April 2019 in the state. Remaining 4 assembly constituencies election was held on 19 May. The counting of votes was conducted on 23 May,and on the same day the results were announced. Then the by-elections for 2 seats Vikravandi and Nanguneri were conducted on 21 October 2019
The Sixteenth Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly Election was held on 6 April 2021,to elect representatives from the 234 constituencies in the Indian State of Tamil Nadu. The Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) won the election,ending the decade-long reign of the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK). The DMK's leader M. K. Stalin became the eighth Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu,and the 12th Chief Minister since the 1956 reorganization. He replaced Edappadi K. Palaniswami of the AIADMK.
The Pollachi sexual assault case refers to a case of rape and extortion of numerous women by a gang in Pollachi,Coimbatore in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. The gang would entice women into isolated places after befriending them on social media and sexually assault them and filmed the act. The videos were later used to blackmail the women for sexual favors or money. The gang came into spotlight after the family of a 19-year-old college student who claimed to had been sexually assaulted and blackmailed complained to the police. According to media accounts,at least 200 women are sexually assaulted in the very same manner and the victims were college and school teachers,doctors,higher secondary school students from all over the state. On the mobiles of the accused,police said they discovered dozens of video recordings of women being abused at a farmhouse belonging to one of the accused and some were leaked.
