Sassi Punnu is a 1983 Indian Punjabi-language film, directed by Satish Bhakhri, starring Satish Kaul and Bhavana Bhatt. [1] [2] It is based on the folktale of Sassi Punnu.

Music

The music is composed by Ravi for the playback singers Mohammad Rafi, Asha Bhosle, Usha Mangeshkar, Mahendra Kapoor, Muhammad Sadiq, Kuldeep Manak, and Anette. [2] Hardev Dilgir, Babu Singh Maan, Munsif, Qamar Jalalabadi and Mahinder Kaailay penned the lyrics. [2] The music vinyl record was released by HMV in 1982.

Rafi was notable for his versatility and range of voice; his songs varied from fast peppy numbers to patriotic songs, sad numbers to highly romantic songs, qawwalis to ghazals and bhajans to classical songs. Sassi is a 1954 Pakistani romance film directed by Dawood Chand and produced by J.C. Anand under banner Eveready Pictures. It was a remake of the director's own Sassi Punnu (1939) which was based on the legend of the same name. Sabiha played the titular role in the film opposite Sudhir, while Asha Posley, Nazar and Ghulam Mohammad were in pivotal roles. The musical socre of the film was composed by G. A. Chishti. Sassi was a commercially successful film, and is recognised as the first golden jubilee hit film of the Pakistani cinema.
