Rear Admiral Sathish Vasudev, NM is a serving Flag officer in the Indian Navy. He currently serves as the Flag Officer Commanding Gujarat Naval Area. He earlier served as the Flag Officer Defence Advisory Group.
Sathish graduated from the National Defence Academy, Khadakvasla and was commissioned into the Indian Navy on 1 July 1993. He is a specialist in Navigation and Direction. He attended the Defence Services Staff College, Wellington and the Naval War College, Goa. [1]
In his staff appointments, Sathish has served in the Directorate of Naval Operations as the War Room Commander, as the Director of Naval Plans and Commodore (Naval Plans) at Naval Headquarters and as the Commodore (Operations) of the Eastern Naval Command. He also served as the Director (Perspective Planning) at the Army headquarters. In addition, he has served as an instructor at his alma maters, the ND school, Kochi and at the Defence Services Staff College in Wellington. [2]
In the rank of Commander, Sathish has commanded the Godavari-class guided-missile frigate INS Gomati (F21) and has been the executive officer of the lead ship of her class of frigates INS Talwar (F40) . He later commanded the Teg class Frigate INS Tarkash (F50) in the rank of Captain. During his command, in 2019, Tarkash had a long Overseas Deployment to Africa, Europe and Russia. She called on many cities including Dakar, Lagos, Walvis Bay, Helsinki, Cadiz and St. Petersburg. [3] [4] [5] [6] She also participated in the Russian Navy Day celebrations. [7] He was awarded the Nau Sena Medal on 26 January 2022 for devotion to duty. [8]
Sathish was promoted to flag rank on 1 March 2024 and was appointed Flag Officer Defence Advisory Group and Advisor Offshore Security and Defence to the Government of India. After a short stint, he was appointed Flag Officer Commanding Gujarat Naval Area (FOGNA), one of the five naval area commanders. He took over from Rear Admiral Anil Jaggi on 24 August 2024 at Porbandar. [9]
Sathish was awarded the Nau Sena Medal by the President of India for devotion to duty in the year 2022. He has also been commended by the Chief of the Naval Staff in 2009 and by the Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief Western Naval Command in 2001.
The Western Naval Command is one of the three command–level formations of the Indian Navy. It is headquartered in Mumbai, Maharashtra. As the senior–most of the three formations, the command is responsible for the all naval forces in the Arabian Sea and western parts of the Indian Ocean and the naval establishments on the west coast of India.

Vice Admiral Suraj Berry, AVSM, NM, VSM is a serving Flag officer in the Indian Navy. He currently serves as the Commander-in-Chief, Strategic Forces Command. He previously served as the Chief of Personnel, as the Controller Personnel Services and as Chief of Staff of the Andaman and Nicobar Command. Vice Admiral Kankipati Appala Satyanarayana Zagapathi 'KASZ' Raju, PVSM, AVSM, NM is a former Flag officer in the Indian Navy. He last served as the Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief Western Naval Command, from 1992 to 1994. A naval aviator, he was part of the Navy's first naval air squadron INAS 300 and was embarked on the Navy's first aircraft carrier INS Vikrant. During the Indo-Pakistani War of 1971, he was the executive officer of the Leopard-class frigate INS Brahmaputra (1957), for which he was awarded the Nao Sena Medal. He later commanded the Western Fleet and the Southern Naval Command.

He previously served as the Assistant Chief of Naval Staff (Air) at Naval headquarters. He superannuated on 30 April 2022.

He last served as the as the Commandant of the National Defence Academy. He earlier served as the Flag Officer Commanding Western Fleet and prior to that was the third commanding officer of the aircraft carrier INS Vikramaditya.

One of the five Area Commanders of the Indian Navy, the FOGNA is a two star admiral holding the rank of Rear Admiral. The FOGNA is responsible for the operations and administration of all units and establishments in Gujarat and Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu.
