Kannada cinema, also known as Sandalwood or Chandanavana, is the segment of Indian cinema dedicated to the production of motion pictures in the Kannada language widely spoken in the state of Karnataka. The 1934 film Sati Sulochana directed by Y. V. Rao was the first talkie film in the Kannada language. It was also the first film starring Subbaiah Naidu and Tripuramba, and was the first motion picture screened in the erstwhile Mysore Kingdom. The film was produced by Chamanlal Doongaji, who in 1932 founded South India Movietone in Bangalore.

Seema Tapakai is a 2011 Indian Telugu-language comedy film written and directed by G.Nageswara Reddy, produced by Dr. Vijaya Prasad Malla under Wellfare Creations banner and starring Allari Naresh and Poorna in lead roles. The film soundtrack was composed by Vandemataram Srinivas and cinematography was handled by Adusumilli Vijay Kumar. The dialogue of the movie was written by popular writer Marudhuri Raja. The screenplay was handled also by G Nageswara Reddy. This film marks the debut of actress Poorna in Telugu cinema. Seema Tapakai was released on 13 May 2011.
Bheema Theeradalli is a 2012 Kannada biopic action film directed by Om Prakash Rao and produced-shot by cinematographer Anaji Nagaraj. The film stars Duniya Vijay and Pranitha Subhash in the lead roles. Controversial Excise minister in the State Cabinet of Karnataka Renukacharya makes his acting debut in a special appearance role.
Sollamale is a 1998 Tamil romantic drama film directed by Sasi, who made his directorial debut with the film. The film featured Livingston and Kausalya in lead roles while Karan, Vivek, Anand, and Prakash Raj play supporting roles. Rama Rama Re... is a 2016 Indian Kannada film written and directed by D Satya Prakash. It is a story of a convict on death row, who escapes from prison and accidentally ends up traveling with a retired veteran of a Police Department, who is called upon by the authorities to teach the process of executing a convict to the new staff. Rama Rama Re... was released on 21 October 2016. The film was remade in Telugu in 2018 as Aatagadharaa Siva by Rockline Venkatesh. The film is currently being remade in Marathi.
Echcharikkai – Idhu Manidhargal Nadamaadum Idam is a 2018 Indian Tamil-language crime thriller film written and directed by debutant Director Sarjun KM. The film features Sathyaraj, Varalaxmi Sarathkumar, Kishore, Vivek Rajgopal, and Yogi Babu. Principal photography of the film commenced at Pondicherry in December 2016 and shooting wrapped up by April 2017.This story is inspired by The Disappearance of Alice Creed movie. The film released on 24 August 2018 on the eve of Varalakshmi Vratam and received poor reviews from the audience.
