Ashoka is director Shivamani's first film with producer Ramesh Yadav, who also wrote the story. The film is the 14th one produced by Yadav. [1]

Release and reception

Ashoka was released on 17 March 2006 after being delayed. [4] K.N. Venkatasubba Rao of The Hindu opined that "Borrowing its plot straight from published sensational news stories, in a cut and paste format, Ashoka attempts to trace the nexus between the police and underworld in a despicable but undeniable fashion". [5] R G Vijayasarathy of Rediff.com said that "Overall, Ashoka is good if you want to see another side of Shivaraj Kumar". [6] The film was commercially unsuccessful. [7] [8]

Killing Veerappan is a 2016 Indian Kannada-language biographical crime film directed by Ram Gopal Varma, who co-wrote the film with K. Balaji. The film is based on the events leading to Operation Cocoon to capture or kill Indian bandit Veerappan. Featuring Shiva Rajkumar in the central role touted to be based on N. K. Senthamarai Kannan, the then Superintendent of police, with the Indian Special Task Force, and the spy who masterminded Operation Cocoon.

Josh is a 2009 Indian Kannada language romantic film directed and written by Shivamani. Produced by Sanjay Babu under SVP pictures, the film mainly stars debutants Rakesh Adiga, Poorna and Nithya Menen whilst Akshay, Vishnu Prasanna, Dwarakish, Achyuth Kumar, Tulasi Shivamani and Sihi Kahi Chandru feature in supporting roles. The music is composed by Vardhan, making his debut.

Santha (transl. Saint) is a 2007 Indian Kannada-language crime film directed by S. Muralimohan, who also penned the dialogues and screenplay for a story by Ajay Kumar. The film stars Shiva Rajkumar, Aarti Chhabria and Sridevika in the lead roles. The film's theme was similar to the 1995 Shivarajkumar starrer Om for which Muralimohan worked as an associate director. Gurukiran scored and composed the film's soundtrack. Although the film was released on 18 May 2007 to negative reviews, the film had a large opening and turned out to be a commercially safe venture.
