The Schweizer Cup (French: Cup Suisse) is an annual bonspiel, or curling tournament, held in Baden, Switzerland. [1] It is organized by the Swiss Curling Association and is similar to the Canada Cup held in Canada each year. [2] It was established in 2018. It was a World Curling Tour event in 2018 and 2019, but was dropped in 2020.

The Schweizer Cup mixed doubles event is held separately on a different date at the Eissportzentrum Lerchenfeld in St. Gallen. [9]

The World Curling Championships are the annual world championships for curling, organized by the World Curling Federation and contested by national championship teams. There are men's, women's and mixed doubles championships, as well as men's and women's versions of junior and senior championships. There is also a world championship for wheelchair curling. The men's championship started in 1959, while the women's started in 1979. The mixed doubles championship was started in 2008. Since 2005, the men's and women's championships have been held in different venues, with Canada hosting one of the two championships every year: the men's championship in odd years, and the women's championship in even years. Canada has dominated both the men's and women's championships since their inception, although Switzerland, Sweden, Denmark, Germany, Scotland, the United States, Norway and China have all won at least one championship.

Melanie Barbezat is a Swiss retired curler from Zollikofen. From 2018 to 2022, she played lead for the Silvana Tirinzoni rink that won three consecutive World Women's Curling Championship titles in 2019, 2021 and 2022. The team also won the 2019 Champions Cup Grand Slam of Curling event, and competed at the 2022 Winter Olympics where they placed fourth.

The 2019–20 curling season began in June 2019 and was scheduled to end in May 2020. However, the coronavirus pandemic declared in March 2020 resulted in the cancellation of events and the premature ending of the season.

The 2020 Schweizer Cup was held from August 20 to 23 in Baden, Switzerland. The total purse for the event was 11,000 Swiss francs on both the men's and women's sides.

The 2021–22 curling season began in June 2021 and ended in May 2022.
